Something like this should do be fine for your work laptop
https://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/audacity_portableI know that for USB headphones on my android phone I have to go into settings somewhere and enable USB on the go manually (and I have to do this every time and I don't receive a prompt to do it). Have you checked if this is enabled?

Kind of pissed off that my Pixel 4a seems to have no way of simply recording audio line in even with all kinds of aux to TRRS adapters/ UCSB-C to audio connectors deployed. Samsungs seem to be able to do this no problem.
My work laptop is nailed down so I can't install anything on it, so I seem to be faced with buying a laptop (I thought I was free from them) or some hardware just to record a DJ mix to MP3?
