Anyway - I can ride a scooter up to 50cc right now, from looking at the DVLA site.
I can't see any codes on the list of codes that indicate a part of the licence is provisional, which is a bit confusing. How is that usually shown? I think I already have one, but I'm not sure.
Based on the above, I think that what I need to do is to pass a CBT, then I can ride a motorcycle of up to 125cc, and then do the tests and so on to remove the "79(tri)" from my A cat.

This is technically a very bad idea yes?
I’ve got a really nice old Michelin bicycle window sticker to go on it so thinking it’s fate.

That's the lad.
If you are actually thinking of getting the full licence, you can probably book the CBT, training and tests in one block once you've got the theory - it's worth noting that unlike with a car you can't just tootle around on a provisional/L plates with a mate who's already done it, you have to be accompanied by a qualified instructor in radio contact.

No. This is an excellent idea in every way.
Having that sticker to put on it, buying the car, then never putting the sticker on it. I think that would be excellent too.
But get the car. Would be awesome to think you have picked this up.

Hey, got them done. Tempting to collect and store the tyre anyway but realistically I won't find the time to drive over to collect so please get rid.

I thought you need the CBT first, but worth checking. Could just be that's what I did so I could get on a bike ASAP.
CBT
Theory
Mod 1
Mod 2Theory in particular is what often holds things up as you can't book Mod1/2 until you've passed.

I’ll have a look at it in the New Year, I did intend on getting it sorted a while ago, then went down the rabbit hole of EV motorcycles, got distracted by the 911 engine project and never booked the lessons.

Depending how old the licence is, you can ride certain 50cc without out L plates but good luck in getting insurance with out a CBT.
Had my insurance for my multistrada cancelled as I could produce a valid CBT! CSB

Actually a few days ago when I went for a walk, but suspect I don't count.
Can't remember the 6 but think it has similar suspension set up as the 16 and we all remember what Sterling Moss said at the time.

Category H licenses are very easy to get. I know a place with tanks that will help you out.

There was a Renault 6 for sale near me for a while. They look nice. Basically a posher Renault 4, and a clear link between the 4 and the 16, 20 and 30 range as far as styling goes.
Not yet attracting the R4 tax either. -

I was looking into the motorcycle license thing recently, and came to the conclusion that you can ride up to a 125cc motorcycle without doing a CBT if you passed your test before the year 2000.
I think.... But who knows.
I wanted to get a Honda Zoomer, but got an Abarth instead.

But everyone * has a 4L story/souvenir of some sort, there's no such nostalgia attached to the 6.
*well, in France.

Yep, Lolo is right. The 4 in the UK was rare compared to bl stuff. But always made me smile as it had handles on the front.

Usually do a test on a tracked mini digger, military test for civilians was the same.
Let's not forget tank maintenance, fuel usage and space needed to use a tracked vehicle.

My parents had one in the Limousin and I used to love bombing around the twisty country roads in it scaring any occupants with the crazy body roll and 135 tyres.
I drove to the Atlantic coast with two mates in it to go surfing one summer. 6v electrics meant no radio and crappy wipers which was scary when a mental atlantic storm came in...

Debit on those unfortunately.
Have the 'old' damper, even though its well under a year old and in good shape. Slight imbalance across the front on that car seen as they've used the wrong spring, and also a gas topped damper instead of an oil only job. Pretty sure its depositing its oil on the inside of the upright too, not coming from brakes, hub, cv joints, so guess could go the route of 'your newly fitted damper is leaking, btw can you fit the right one, and the right spring'.Just utterly fed up of folk not doing a job right, and I'm a medium sized white sys male with good mechanical knowledge who can find out their mistakes, any other people likely get screwed even more.

Just checked, I did my theory first, then the CBT, then booked the DAS. The training centre booked mod 1 & 2, which made life easier (they also get offered cancellation slots).
I’m not sure anyone ever fails the CBT so you might as well do it as morning 1 of the training! -

I had to retake my cbt as the first eexpired before I got round to doing my full license. On the 2nd one there was someone who the instructor had a chat with at the lunch break and asked not to come back.
Imagine someone on a Zoomer riding the way a small kid rides their bike.
But yeah, my eg is the only one I've ever heard of irl.
You need to be about 100 years older and be really into leather and chrome VW parts.
Fill in this and it will clear up what you can/can’t do: https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
