He was fucking stupid, the burning cardboard under the van was dumb but it was probably a diesel so highly unlikely to burst into flames before the cardboard burnt out (but was still a fucking stupid thing to do). But if you look at some of the people who haven't been jailed for killing cyclists with incredibly dubious excuses it looks like an excessive sentence.
