  • I met someone who has 3. He did mention they spend a lot of time going back to PP for repairs.

    Maybe ask them about reliability.

  • Schoolboy error, Pateks are heirlooms, you’re not supposed to wear them. Best not to even wind them.

  • Is it actually fragile? Or do you mostly mean the bracelet? Rolex got where they are by deliberately making tougher, more practical watches than everyone else. They’re pretty robust, relatively speaking.

  • Yeah, I see what you mean… I guess the head itself is pretty solid considering, but it being so small… add the fragility of the bracelet and the whole package feels very light. Probably didn’t help that just before this Rolex, I was wearing the Doxa 300T on the bracelet which weighs… oh hang on, I’ll weigh them!

  • Rolex - 87g
    Doxa - 185g

  • Tell them they need to sack the people who design the dials and the hands.

    Preferably as your opening move.

  • When movements and prestige transcend dog shit aesthetics...

  • Probably didn’t help that just before this Rolex, I was wearing the Doxa 300T

Yeah, that'll do it! I've never weighed a watch but now I might have to, for science.

  • GW-M5610 - 49g
    SBGW267 (on leather) - 61g
    AnOrdain Model 1 (on leather) - 65g
    SLA017 (on rubber) - 111g
    Rolex OP36 (bracelet, obvs) - 121g
    SBDC065 (bracelet) - 172g

The Rolex wears "lighter" than the SLA because the weight is more evenly distributed. The SLA watch head feels quite substantial when you pick it up.

  • Haven't seen the Salter's in a while!

  • No scales to hand, sadly.

Switched the Pepsi bezel out for a brushed gold pilot style.
SKX009, One Second Closer bezel, Murtz starp

  • Owch

  • Turns out my Max Bill weighs more than my Citizen Promaster Tough.

  • I meant more that I've yet to see a jlc with dog shit aesthetic. Most other brands seem to have at least one total abortion on the record

  • Oh. Ha.

I don't mind the master compressor!

  • Fucking hell, that make sense, Doxa seemed on par for tough dive watch.

  • Haha! Love it.

    Other watches, just because:

Old Poljot alarm (on nato) - 48g
Seiko Lord Marvel (on leather) - 47g
    BB58 (bracelet) - 137g
Sinn 203 (full bracelet with all the links as I didn't size it) - 163g
Sinn 103 (on Luff elastic strap) - 86g

@edscoble all of my watches on bracelets (apart from the Sinn 203) are sized to my not so small 19cm wrist, so that adds a bit of weight...

    So, who can beat 185g?

  • So, who can beat 185g?

    Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea?

  • A 40mm platinum Day-Date.

  • Does anyone have one here? @hacha has the red SD, I think? Get the scale out buddy!

  • Wow! Apparently sized to a 7in wrist it's like 270g! Jeeeez

  • So, who can beat 185g?

    Not me.

    Pelagos (bracelet) - 143g
    GMW-B5000D - full metal G-Shock - 153g

Not much in it between Pelagos and BB58, that'll be the titanium I guess.

  • My daily watch (sbga229) is 201 g
