  • Tried one of these from M&S:

    • excellent filling (finished with clementine syrup 👌)
    • nice crumbly and buttery pastry
    • the sugar on top is too big - not a fan

  • On my third M&S FOOD pie of the day... very enjoyable even cold, and £3 for 12 seems good value.

  • @Fox I’m afraid to say this was the effort from Choclatine today - it’s absolutely rubbish 😔 filling is just dry and unpleasant

  • Just added preserved orange peel, bashed up pecans and moar rum to our mince. It’s boozy AF. Looking forward to pastry encasement.

  • All I see there are raisins & sadness - thoughts and prayers

  • Next door neighbour just dropped some fresh homemade round. Best of the year by a country mile.

  • It was as if someone had just placed the fruit into the pastry before baking - not at all a recognisable mincemeat 🥺🥺

  • Repeat. Anyone still rating Greggs or are they cancelled these days?

  • Another favourite from Aldi - All butter sloe gin mince tarts - bought them on Saturday out of curiosity & by last night had demolished the lot, not a traditional mincer by any means but they're tasty.

I thought the pastry looked a bit thick but it's actually quite light & works well with the dense sticky filling. Bit on the shallow side, I was worried the pastry:filing ratio was way off but the rich flavour makes up for that.

Had eaten the entire box before I took any photos. soz.

  • I'm still happily Gregging, and also a fan of their vegan Christmas slice. But, obviously, vegans are shorter of options than most.

Edit - if there is a reason for cancelling Gregg's, please don't share it - leave me with some joy in life...

  • Oh none that I know of, just hadn't seen much noise about their mincers this year compared with other years and wondered if they'd dropped a social media bollock or something 😝

  • had to do shitty things at my bequest throughout the year

Behest or request. Bequest is synonym to bequeath. 🙂

  • Repeat. Anyone still rating Greggs or are they cancelled these days?

I thought they were pretty acceptable. Pastry is nice and short, though obviously not buttery tasting because they're vegan. Filling was very tangy and flavoursome with a bit of goo ooze which was nice. If you're vegan they're well worth going into a Greggs for.

  • Homemade ftw

  • M8 did they not have the little 2 packs of bakery mincers? They’re great

  • I've enjoyed these since the glitter experiment. (2 packs for £2 at the mo)

  • Apple mince pie crumble is a definite hit. I've also tried making mince pie ice-cream which is also pretty good but would be improved with better mincemeat I think!

  • Hmmm,
contributors to this thread will be expected to assemble outside their local
Ole & Steen, where clearly identifiable marshalls will hand them pitchforks and burning torches.
