A year ago I didn't know what my NHS number was.

Not sure how much booking is required anymore - locally around me in Sheffield everywhere is now just a walk in (in reality - not sure if websites updated). Just one queue and even if you have a booking, then its back of the queue please.

Makes the 20 person queue at our chemist look a bit lightweight.

Hearing from friends here in Luxembourg that schools are allowing parents to take their kids out of school half a week early for Xmas due to the way COVID is rampaging through the classes. Not sure if it's official policy or discretionary at a school level.

We booked booster jabs for 10am today, get there and the place is also taking walk ins and the queue was huge. They stopped taking walk ins shortly after we got there it still took over 2 hours to get in and out.

Petrol, boosters... my money is on us queueing for bread next. Water is a strong second favourite too.

Glad I've got 10kg of bread flour in then. And living in the wettest city in the UK I should be able to find some puddles to drink from.

A 30l plastic keg holds the contents of a 16kg bag of flour perfectly, mine lives in the shed. Got my booster last week: sore arm for the night, slight headache the day after, 5G signal unchanged.

I got 25kg of flour and 40kg of grain to be milled into flour last week

Is it time to get a starter going again?

Just need to stock up on arborio rice, shallots, pecorino and dried ceps to keep my golf fan club all excited.

I was busy designing my kitchen storage solution at the start of last year, another lockdown would mean I could finish it of at least (bar actually getting it made actually, which is where I left off).

Wow. Any speculation why?

I haven't seen any speculation from anybody with qualifications and data as yet.
My experience is that my social circles, which are heavily middle class, have been super careful for the previous waves but have thrown themselves back into normal life in recent months and spent more time in pubs, bars and restaurants and have been going to house parties etc. Not to mention going back to the office. I've definitely noticed friends wearing masks less (before the reintroduced mandate), or at least being a bit sloppy in terms of forgetting to take one out with them.
My (total) guess is that perhaps people who were able to be more careful in previous waves, but which I mean people who worked from home mainly, wore masks and were reluctant to go back to the pub at the time, maybe have lower immunity levels now than people who were not able to do that in the previous waves? I sense a certain level of pandemic apathy creeping in.

Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that compliance with Covid restrictions was higher in middle class groups, more that the middle class people I know have been privileged in being able to cut themselves off and still earn and look after their family in previous waves and I just get the feeling that they've let their guard down a fair bit recently.

Daughters positive LTF confirmed with a PCR, she comes out of isolation on the 24th. Both mine and my wifes PCRs were negative and have both have negative LTFs this morning. The daily LTFs are going to be nerve wracking for the next week!

I’m in the same boat.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you... picked up at school?
How confident are people on not being infectious after 10 days? trying to work out if it is foolish to see family on christmas day after daughter coming out of isolation the day before.
Although 24th is her 10 days, she tested positive on the Monday, we are fairly sure she got it at school the week before, so that adds 3 days.
Must have pasted my NHS number 1258 times into that bloody website this morning. Kept looping back to previous pages due to traffic. Managed to book one for Thursday.
Getting spicy again init.
