having 299.2 on my results sheet is basically a "fuck you" to me from me.
Yeah hugely frustrating!

If I make another 5W then lose it again because of a front light I'm gonna be #sadface
I think the rule is only that you have to start with the light. It can fall off afterwards so shouldn't cost you 5 watts all day. In fact, if you chuck it backwards hard enough you might get an advantage...

I guess I'll wait and see what's in the regs next year. I wanted to test out some new arm positions - maybe I could test some light mounts at the same time? I bet I don't get around to any of it.

I actually did use a front light for all my 12 hours, between 8 and 5 years ago (after I had a car pull out without seeing / looking and nearly hit me on the Amersham Road).
I mounted a coin cell flashing light directly under my right pad. It was pretty small so can't have had much drag. A few people commented on how it was noticeable. Support crew liked it.
Funnily enough, I just took it off the bike a couple of nights ago - not been used in years.

I can't see where these new light rules have been mentioned
It only got approved yesterday. 5 pages and counting on 'the other place'.

I took my light bar off the TT bike last year, assuming I'd not be racing another 24hr and looking for any and all watts on the Shiv.
-
• #19758
Ah... it really didn't cross my mind to look over there.
-
• #19759
Fair.
I've been using a front light ever since there was a fatality on a local course when a car overtook a lorry and hit a participant head on.

I'm not going to bother debating the thing, if it's the rule it's the rule.
I may just get to next year though and tell everyone I did a 300*
*stopped to adjust brakes because I was worried about cutting a tyre up but it was probably only shit kicked up from the wet road rubbing on the tyre. Basically, if this shit country had nicer weather in "summer" I'd have done the 300 so nyer nyer anyone want to buy an old Shiv? :)

Just got the email
At the CTT National Council AGM on Sunday 5 December, several changes were made to CTT’s regulations. In particular, two important regulations were passed and are implemented with immediate effect.
Firstly, ALL riders must use a front light attached to their machine. [Regulation 14(j)].
Secondly, ALL riders now must wear a helmet. (Previously this requirement was only mandatory for under 18s). [Regulation 15].
The changes to these regulations have been made on the CTT website although we wanted to share this information with you as soon as possible, especially as it will impact those riders competing in events over the festive period.

Thinking about attaching front light one to my 50mm risers. Any suggestions?
-
• #19764
I've been using a cateye rapid on my riser. It looks like it extends the profile of riser

• #19765
Seems I was ahead of my time, this was 2014...
-

cateye rapid
Thanks, but looks like it's too long at 74mm :(

I'd be interested in the tririg brake if it isn't the omega x version and the ventus spacers and bridge if you split.
-
• #19770
Sadly is the omega x, although from what I understand the non x version didn’t actually stop you…
-

the non x version didn’t actually stop you…
I've never actually run into the back of anything using a first gen Omega, even with the truly appalling brake levers on the first gen Ventus.
Are you giving up TTs or upgrading to the Omega One, which also doesn't fit pre-2013 P2s?😐

I’m moving to discs..

• #19773
I just need to know if those bars are faster than mine...
-
• #19774
Probably…
But then I would say that…
-
• #19775
faster than mine...
What are you using these days?
I'll likely race the Breckland again and I'll have to use whatever rules are in place at the time. But I can't see where these new light rules have been mentioned so that's a bit tricky. None of this matters until Aug anyway and I've already thought of the faired light design but I really need to do some more aero testing. I've done nothing for years. I made more power this year and finished further down the field. 12 riders did 300+ rides. It was the Nat Champs but it still sucks.
Or I could sack it all off and race Tour Divide or something actually fun. I'm just a sucker for 'completing' things and having 299.2 on my results sheet is basically a "fuck you" to me from me.
