Any consensus on decent gloves ?
XC league well underway and it's getting chilly out there. -

I keep coming back to Karrimor running gloves from sportsdirect.
Lightweight, absurdly comfortable and only £5!

I use Montane Power Stretch Grippy for run & bike.

I wear silk liners when running as anything more always seems too much and I can wear other gloves over them for when walking etc

I got some at decathlon half price in the summer - gloves with mittens over the top, with the special bit on the finger/thumb so you can still use your phone. So far very happy with them, wore them when I was race director yesterday outside standing about for 8 hours.

Shanghai Marathon got cancelled due to covid (we have 3 cases in the city at the moment) so my running club put on an unofficial event. We (obviously) did not have permission from the city government to do it, so we held the race out in the rural suburbs, running 5 laps of an artificial lake. It was pretty stressful for us organisers arranging everything (transport, hotels, timing, the course, water, meal afterwards, first aid, medals, etc) with 10 days notice but it all went amazingly well and everyone seemed to have a good time. We even had super clear air and sunshine (even if it was a little cold/windy). Take that, covid, and two years of cancelled races!

Thanks for all the glove recommendations, I'll take a look at them.

I have some Nike ones that are windproof and decent.
Yesterday / Saturday I wore Prendas super roubaix deluxe cycling ones because they were to hand. Worked well and good on the bike too

Recently moved to Squamish, BC (Canada) and have signed myself up for some ultras and skyraces in 2022... Now it's time to get myself some poles – does anyone have any recommendations? I've never run with them before, but they'll definitely come in useful for this in June https://meettheminotaur.com/minotaur/

I take it back about my gloves, I wore them last night on an ill advised post-work ultra marathon and my hands were both sweaty and freezing. Maybe it's my hands that are at fault.

As an alternative, I don't wear gloves, I like tops with longer sleeves and thumb loop things for winter. Then you can sort of wrap your hands when cold, and release them when warm.

"post work ultra marathon"
I mean. I can read the words. But I'm not sure I understand how it works.

Lol. You need to get some twins in your life.
Anything is preferable to going home to the bickering of twins and their older sister
Having said that, I've not done a post work ultra. It's all about weekend running

It works like: you finish work and then you get changed into running clothes and run 50km. When you get home you fall over trying to take your clothes off and you spend the next few days being incredibly hungry because you didn't eat anything except a KitKat chunky during the run. Would not recommend.

On gloves, I've found thickish classic knitted wool gloves have been good for the last few frozen mornings. No conductive fingertips, but they're light, warm and breathable, no sweaty hands.

Yeah this sounds familiar without the running element.

I bought some new running clothes this week. The higher state winter tights and thermal running top are decent. Top is waffle, has hand mitt and thumb loop and key zip pocket on arm. Tights are reflective on legs, and zipped rear phone thing.
Both items came in for about £35.
Would recommend

Does anyone want this Nathan hydration waist pack? - Just need a couple of quid to cover postage.
I can include the bottle if you want, but I've found it fits most bidon sizes.
One caveat is that the pouch zip has a little corrosion...To be honest, the pouch barely fits more than a gel and a bank card... -

More Met League tomorrow after an unplanned rest week. Should be ok.
