I am the opposite. I used to play badders two or three times a week. Somewhere back then I tried tennis and the first swing the (much heavier) racket went sailing out of my grip and across the court. My play didn’t improve much after that, either.
I think that's what I like about tennis, you get to really smack it. I don't have the light touch needed for badminton, I have too much pent up anger and aggression.
I used to play both and found that although both sports require a light touch when necessary, tennis is less forgiving so in badminton you can give it a great thrash on all kinds of shots and do OK. More of a wristy thrashing action though of course, which may not be as satisfying.
