Lol. I've had masking tape round the front windows for about 2 years. I no longer see it. Good tips though.

If it's smooth glass I would use a scraper to cut it off the glass and remove and last bits of residue with a wipe (alcohol or wonder wipes). The scrapers of this style are my preference :-
As others have said, you need to be careful and cut between paint and tape to retain the edge of the paint. If it's exterior and properly taped it should have a 1 - 2mm gap between the woodwork and tape which is painted as this helps the paint to protect the woodwork.
I don't carry or use a hairdrier in my tools so I can't say if that works better.

Thanks, I wish I’d known that about the gap!

How many lumens do I need for a tiny under stairs loo? I want it to be quite dim - it's currently blinding - but what's the minimum before it gets silly?

Mitre/chop saws. Looking at https://www.amazon.co.uk/Einhell-4300390-TC-SM-Sliding-Mitre/dp/B0816WP4JW/
But just seen https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FMYUIMO
Talk me out of the Bosch please. -

100% get the Bosch. The dust collection will be way better - it has extraction from the blade guard and also a chute behind the cut. I'd spend £100 on lung health and a clean site any day.

Thanks.

Ditto what @dbr says.
That is a cracking price for the bosch.
I'd also add that chop saws are about accuracy and that costs money.
Another big plus for Bosch is their warranty which can be extended to 3 years if you register the tool within a month of purchase - I once dropped an impact driver form the top of a 5m tower swept up the bits of former tool and battery put it in a jiffy bag and sent it off to Bosch with "I dropped it" on the paperwork and got a replacement tool and battery within the week.

Ordered. Fuck, owning a house is expensive when you are renovating from a 'no tools' base ha.

This might make you feel better about buying the Bosch:
Festool 575305 Mitre Saw, 110 V, Multi-Colour https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07NS6XDHW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_NQ7516TAJKXC24RPA5PZ

Don't worry, already did the "at least I didn't buy this one"" to my partner. 😅

I bought that one when it was first released. It's a great mitre saw but really difficult to move around small victorian buildings. Had to go back to Germany for a retrofit this year, there had been a problem with the lasers on the early versions.

Would you go for the 60 if you were buying now? I saw one on a worksite and was awe-struck.

I have a big old Evolution mitre saw that I’m looking to shift to make some space. Not as good as the Bosch but I would let you have it for a ton, including the table for it.

I’ve wanted that Bosch for ages, mate has one. It’s compact, lightweight, accurate, good dust collection, really good horizontal cutting capacity, and at that price it’s a bit of a steal. If I wasn’t skint I’d deffo be tempted for £211!

If I wasn't in deep Devon, I'd jumped that offer!

These are all positive reviews. So no buyers remorse at the moment. Plus pay in 5 installments is nice too.

Is it worth checking stuff like https://www.shareshed.org.uk/ for anything that you could be likely to only need to once?
There's a tool library not far from me in Liverpool that I'm planning on using a lot for this kind of thing.

I have the Bosch (actually GCM 800), a friend has the einhell. His is rubbish, mine is not. Seriously, I couldn't get square cuts when I borrowed his, the feet are terrible, the rails are scratchy from the box, the whole thing feels flimsy.
You chose wisely. -

dimmable LEDs. talk to me
I have one but it buzzes wth
-
• #32797
Not sure, it's missing a lot of features and I have used all the features over time. I just hate having to move it on and off site. In the workshop it sits in the special trolley so it's easier but the trolley is too wide to get up the stairs. Like most Festool rolling stuff it works best on big sites with flat floors and lifts.

1mm over 2.7m is within plumb tolerance right?

Your dimmer is the wrong kind, if you use an led compatible one and the settings are right it shouldn't buzz. With an led compatible dimmer there are weird cheat codes to change the settings. Two short button presses followed by a long press to access the settings menu, that sort of thing

On the Bosch mitre saw chatItem dimensions L x W x H 41 x 46 x 91 cmDoes almost a metre high sound correct?Mine will live on a 65cm deep bench most of the time, so while size isn't the main consideration, it is a consideration.Cheers.In one of the Q&As someone says it locks down to ~50cm.
Very, very carefully run a surgery scalpel around the edges.
And a hairdryer to soften the adhesive on the tape.
