  • Oh no!

Got mine today, looks ok so far but I had to leave it at work as I was riding home.

I'm too tired to do any research, will distilled water (from a pet shop or window cleaner) just do the job as a cleaning solution then?

  • The window cleaner reckons it has tiny mineral content which is what you want. I add a soap to create a bit of bubble based cleaning. There's a recipe involving Tergitol and photoflo or similar that I mentioned upthread. I'm not using ultrasonic cleaners for records, it's possible the soap is not desirable but most ultrasonic cleaning I've done on small objects like watches benefits from soap in the water.

  • I read few articles (mainly to justify using deionised water, as it's all i had!). most of them don't recommend a detergent for US cleaning.

i have seen a few people suggest that both a wet vac type cleaner and an US gets the best, as the soap gets the greasy prints and the US gets the dirt, but i'll be fucked if i ever use a wet vac one again. I certainly won't be cleaning them twice!
