  • What I didn’t learn is how to figure out those points are for a car that wasn’t the instructors.

The point was to teach you how it works on one car so you can work out how it works on other cars.

  • Now that is an estate - nice car!
I also need to work on my photography skills!

  • Maybe it's cuz it's still very fresh in my mind but I use my instructor's guide for parallel parking every day and I've managed it with no trouble in every car I've driven...

  • Meh, yours doesn't count as an e30 estate ;)

For those that disagree, I point out how this E30 is very different to the usual E30.

  • Soon to be more different, in the bodyshop for a colour change now

    to this San Marino Blue

  • You are devaluing your car ;)

Now that is a nice colour. Think that the blue will make the E30 look as special as it is.

  • Was silver the most common e30 estate colour? Feels like it was. Seems the saloons were white silver or red.

  • That is pretty handsome. And yeah epic spot for a snap. Enjoy dude

  • That is going to look amazing. Great choice

  • Yeah, it's been in a state of almost working for about 2 years, finally admitted to myself I wasn't going to finish all the little bits on the floor outside the garage on the estate and just sent it off to get finished at Unit 3 Motorsport in Salisbury.

  • Love the wheels mate!

  • Sick! Share all the updates you get, won't you!?

  • Not sure Lach Silver seems to be popular, well I have owned three :D white also but have seen quite a few Blue and green ones in the past.

@jonny it has been a long time coming, bought it in 2015 and new it needed body work and a respray, then I got hit from behind 2019 bought some repair panels with the pay out and have spent all that time finding someone willing to do the work and not let me down, three sprayers let me down saying they would do it, first agreed a price and date, then ghosted me, second two said they would do it and never came up with a quote, so can't wait now, giving the engine a rebuild while it is out to :D

  • Nice Steve!

  • Managed to unlock Bluetooth audio with a 20 quid obd reader and 30 quid app. Pretty cool to have but its still mega dated and the nav is garbage.

You can get 10" android head units for about 450 quid... Pretty punchy.

Is android auto that good? 450 notes good

  • It will play your tunes, read out your texts and take notes for you as well... I couldn't do without it... And Old Bill, it tells you where the filth are...

  • Brothers Auris (66 plate, d4d 1.6 Diesel engine) is showing p0299 - low boost. He heard a pop, followed by a massive loss of power and engine light coming on. Couldn’t access anything properly when I went to have a look and forgot my inspection camera, d’oh. You can hear the turbo spooling - whining away - but couldn’t spot the leak. I’d assume that wastegate would throw its own fault (like my neighbour’s Skoda did), so hoping it’s just a hose that’s come off.
One thing I’ve noticed is how little info is available via my Googling, both my Astra and e46 have so much info available (I assume because they’re a bit older and fairly straightforward) same goes for my wife’s jazz. He just had it serviced and I noticed that they’d failed to clip some of the pipes back into their holders so I half wonder if they’ve bashed something in the process. Deffo jealous of how accessible the air filter is compared to the e46!

Cleared the lambda sensor fault on the jazz and it hasn’t come back on, yet. That’ll teach me for putting a cheapo sensor on.

  • Check the turbo intercooler pipes they can split, if nothing is visible get a smoke test done :)

  • Top tekkers. Mate who was guiding me down the phone reckoned smoke test would be what the garage would do. I just popped over with my foxwell diagnostic thing that you recommended (still going strong), and they had friends coming over so it was a very brief diagnostic sesh. And probably quite above my pay grade.

Also, reckon the smoke out the e46 is steam - I only get it off the first big acceleration, and not on subsequent ones so hoping it’s just condensation in the exhaust (and I CBA investigating further).

  • I’ll put a small some of money on an intake hose popping off.

  • Suspect an inlet pipe has popped off as a jubilee clip has rusted and broken. Don't make a popping noise if the pipe splits.

Check on the forums as sometimes there is an inlet pipe that commonly fails.

  • Ask nurseholiday as he mentioned a head unit further up

  • Good shout on the forums

  • The head unit doesn’t need to run Android to be able to display Android Auto from your phone. There are name brand units for nearer £200, and much much less if you can put up with incredibly buggy software.
