  • New insulated zoa, is the cut off bike friendly?
Probably wouldn't get as much bike use I'd like to pretend it would.....could probably justify it if I could use it as a daily off bike jacket (with occasional bike duties)

  • piling on the new insulated zoa questions - do these wash well? i'd wear to commute daily in the winter, and would probably need to wash weekly. i can't remember if primaloft is like down - where it'd have to be washed with tennis balls to keep everything from bunching up.

  • @disq sorry this was a disappointment - if I had the time, I'd be happy to tune one to your spec. Your suggestion on the backpack is still pencilled on my list, would like to find the time someday, will shout when I do.

@Squaredisk @dancing james It's a lot of solid teamwork, cheesy as it sounds, it's absolutely not all me ...look how long it takes me to make simple bags(!). The scarf is really interesting; I know these products already exist, but technically it's so good off/on bike. I haven't proven, but worn around the neck, my theory is it stops a chimney effect happening in windproof/waterproof jackets. Warm air rises from the core/blood vessels in the neck, drawing more warmth up inside the jacket = convection cooling occurs. This scarf block the 'chimney', and warmth just builds in the jacket - again, like the regular burner, only when you take it out, you feel how effective it was.

@MicroDosed™ wow, quick off the mark - the Insulated Jacket? Which colour?

@Sion Definitely off-bike friendly, and yep, I only very occasionally wear on-bike. Either when it's really cold, or short-ish winter city commutes.

@wayaway yes, machine washable. Primaloft is a synthetic insulation, and more durable to launder/care for, and won't need anything special like tennis balls. Frequent washing will wear off the DWR (esp with regular detergent), but it can be rejuvenated with reproofer - although perhaps less of an issue with an insulation piece.

  • I'm on the Orange insulated, looks superb and thanks for confirming the sizing!

  • Might be wishful thinking but did the cut of the ls jersey maybe change to having ok her arms?

I’m 2.01m and need a large but the arms are maybe 5-7cm too short :-(

    Same for the zoa

  • How long is the Zoa Burner? Could it replace a trad Burner in use with short-cut road kit, without having to wrap it around your neck, more like an opera scarf? – I hope I don’t get gold clubbed for that reference.

I like the form factor of it (perhaps serving as buff and Burner at the same time) and the idea it could be used off-bike.

  • I just measured one; it's 130cm x 15cm, and yes, long enough to wear under a jersey and cover your chest. I carry one in my commuter bag with a city windjacket, to do this if the temp drops
....I haven't tried under a jersey, but people here have, and report positively. Obvs, there's the chance of a centre-front gap and cover not as high as regular Burner, but from my experience, definitely effective. Will check in for more definite info.

  • Cheers! Yeah, the concern is that it would bunch or pop out at the bottom of a short jersey.

  • More than welcome to pop in and try anytime in Deptford, Creekside ...or, I'm pleased to announce we're going to host an LFGSS evening on Fri 3rd Dec to come and see what's going on;

Planning to have LFGSS reflective/glow heatpress vinyls to apply to any garment (works on all textiles, apart from Shakedry), or create your own - love to hear your thoughts.
Walk-in repairs on any gear (my time pending), music, beers, bike-parking, tbc a ride from central .
We've got a few print mags involved too - tba

I'll set this up as an event, when I've had a chance to take some pics of the reflective stuff, be great to line some decals up before hand - DAS's, WAC's, Pengy's, all possible - just let me know and I'll knock up some samples. Full details coming .... @Amey sorry! just pinned all this down.

  • Oh! and will be running a program over the three days, Thurs - Sat, with film screening, micro-musette workshop. Full details coming, all welcome!

  • Both of these sound great!

  • You could take that on tour ! We noticed while in Edinburgh how many sowing repair places their are now. Make do and mend really has caught on.

  • I've only ever worn mine under a jersey, and use the straps of my bibs to trap it in place, or tuck the bottom edge in to the top of my bibs if the jersey's a bit short. Works very well!

  • ….examples of reflective (dark grey, gold) and glow-in-the-dark heat transfers

  • Where's this LFGSS day going to be?

  • I have heard in the MOST LFGSS location of all!

  • catford

  • not catt.3, not cat. 4, but cat.4rd

  • Fueltank(!), Creekside, Depford. Flyer is being made, will post asap

oh! posted the pics in a rush; I'll cut the proper version to utilise the negative sections of film better - these border are uneven on some. These peeled off bits usually get binned, but with a bit of design you can utilise 100% of the film.

  • Albion and Alba have the same root it appears. Love a bit of Wiki eh

The term first appears in classical texts as Ἀλβίων Albíōn[5] or Ἀλουΐων Alouíōn (in Ptolemy's writings in Greek), and later as Albion in Latin documents. Historically, the term refers to Britain as a whole and is ultimately based on the Indo-European root for "white".[6] It later came to be used by Gaelic speakers in the form of Alba (dative Albainn, genitive Albann, now obsolete) as the name given to the former kingdom of the Picts which when first used in this sense (around the time of king Causantín mac Áeda (Constantine II, 943–952)) had expanded. The region Breadalbane (Bràghad Albann, the upper part of "Alba") takes its name from it as well.

Probably named 'White' isles because of those famous white cliffs when approached from France i.e. a Roman name. Bet them Gaelics up northern Scotland would hate this.

  • Out.

He was wrong. Deptford, offically the coolest place in London.

  • Be great to see you Skülly - met your neighbour, Papa Jo the other day!

  • Just ordered the zoa burner for my brother in law’s birthday.
