It should have been a penalty and they have nothing to lose. I guess worst case they're hoping for a retrospective time penalty that gives Bottas 2nd and best case a 5 place grid penalty this weekend....
Hope he gets something - I think he'd happily do that again if it meant hanging onto the championship until the end of the season.
