Essentially you've got your head around one idea, which is a good one, but are now blinkered to any others, even ones running alongside it in the same general direction, and it's causing you to come across as a bit of a bell who's happy to minimise other people's experiences of racism because you're 100% right about all the class stuff and that's more directly to important everyone all the time because you say so.

It's not more important because I say so, it's more important because classism gives us the sort of kakistocracy which legitimises and institutionalises racial bias, creating racism - which is distinct from racial bias in that it's embedded in society. That's the academic definition of racism.
Furthermore, it's also more important because these fascist fucks are steadily throwing all the enlightenment values under the bus, creating a stratified society in which reasoned debate is an endangered species thanks to the denigration of expertise and truth, where the distinction between opinion and fact is vanishing. In this climate, all collective action is paralysed while robber barons madly pursue the usual business of turning the natural world into landfill, while the temperature rises and ecosystems collapse.
How could we possibly have any time to spare, doing anything other than fighting the ruling class for our self-determination?
Ask yourself what success in the fight against racism would look like. Does the picture include the presence of those who are in a position to divide and conquer?

Person; "Hi, excuse me, can you help, this man just sexually assaulted me."
Kimmo; "Yeah, of course I can, I saw the whole thing."
Person; "Great, thanks, my friends helping me hold him down, could you call the cops and act as a witness."
Kimmo; "There's no time for that, sexism and the patriarchy caused this and are just symptoms of an oppressive ruling class trying to subjugate you. Trying to prevent this perv is futile, don't worry about the thing that just happened to you, come with me as I march on the ruling class."
Person; "He's literally right here though, you can help me now, the guy just told me he's going to try and do the same to other people."
Kimmo; "Futile! Help me draught a banner and sharpen my sickle, we'll set up camp in front of the ruling class and overthrow them, that's the only way to stop that guy your friend is holding down."
Person; "I've got to work and look after my kids later. Look, forget about it." -

Nice caricature. Looks more like Worzel Gummidge than me though.
Once more, the problem is the whole damn right wing. Just look at these cunts go.

Do you think whether Trump is president has any bearing on the degree of racism faced by Americans? It would appear not.

Taking about this more isn't helping anyone and is a distraction now, peace out.

You have a point about Trump as a part of how racism has affected/is affecting some people.
However, telling people affected by racism that they're not focusing on the correct enemy, is insulting.
You don't come across as an ally unfortunately, particularly in the context of this thread.

Well, it is you cause immediately after writing this, you said;

The article has a good sense of the case for solidarity from people/players that aren't directly affected by acts of racism.
targets of racism are asked: ‘What should we do about it?’ That is very hypocritical because it suggests it is up to them to find solutions as if they are the problem. It is up to white players, who are usually in the majority, to refuse to play on.
They will only make substantive change on the day when white players decide to stop playing.
“To be able to change we have to lift ourselves out of categories: men, women, black and white, and so on. We have to promote the idea that we are human beings before anything else. Generally speaking, the majority don’t want change because they have settled into their habits. So a minority has to be able to instigate change.”
Such statements are a bit vague/silly to me. Unfortunately a lot of people can't just "lift" themselves out of categories. It's something I hear from white 'friends' that are also claiming they don't see colour and that "victim mentality" plays a role in black suffering. This is the shite interpretation, which I'm sure Thuram didn't intent to purvey. And it's not his really his fault for being misunderstood, but as someone who obviously thinks his opinion on the matter is important, I'd say it's a bit careless.
I also appreciate that this article often trails back to football and his personal experiences. It's an opinion piece after all.

I was wondering why his parents were so culturally unaware until they said he was adopted. Definitely a good watch.

Apropos, one of my favourite MLK quotes:
First, I must confess that over the last few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season."
Shallow understanding from people of goodwill is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection."

There certainly is a LOT of lukewarm acceptance going around.

Albini interview is interesting
That’s the way a lot of straight white guys think of the world — they think that it requires an active hatred on your part to be prejudiced, bigoted or to be a participant in white supremacy. The notion is that if you’re not actively doing something to oppress somebody, then you’re not part of the problem. As opposed to quietly enjoying all of the privilege that’s been bestowed on you by generations of this dominance

It's a hard pill to realise you're swallowing because it's just been minced in with your normal food all your life without having to consider it. Once your told you've been taking it, not against your will but maybe against your knowledge, you have to reconcile a few things about what you've been gulping down and it's easy to get defensive and say you're not pro pills but hard to say you've benefited from the pills without realising and it's probably not your fault you've been taking them but they've been giving you a little push all the way regardless.

A bit like say, realising most of your clothes were made with slave labour?

Surprised the Yorkshire cricket club scandal hasn't been discussed here. Is it on another thread?
The testimony we heard this week illuminates many of the points made above about racism on a personal and structural level.

Local high street shop has gollywogs in the window (for sale). I live in a place with a pretty high % white population, with a Conservative MP so I'm not expecting BLM posters and rainbow flags but fuck me, how can people still think this is ok?
Edit: Fired them a message through their website asking them to remove them from display.

A social media post naming and shaming might bring them enough attention to reconsider selling the things.
Do not understand this one.
People are competing based on how oppressed they are?
To see who is the most oppressed?
You are saying this in the context of BLM?
I think you want the class war thread mate
