If you're talking about this Guardian article, then it's just clickbait. It confesses that the survey:
....found that the overwhelming majority of respondents (89%) said they had definitely heard about the Holocaust
The "half of Brits" claim was those who couldn't recall that it was 6m Jews. I'd struggle to remember the figure myself, if asked, tbh.
