  • No, the forum doesn't know best. But have had quite a few email discussions with lift companies on behalf of residential leaseholder on behalf of the landlords agent.

  • Surely there must be loads of 'vintage' lifts that are kept going by fitting non-original parts?

  • I missed this originally. The issue has been that the lifts needed bespoke parts to be made. The lift maintenance company couldn't supply parts in a reasonable amount of time.

    EDIT: The freeholder deemed we should do this urgently and there was a process we had to clear with insurance and health and safety executive. But as the item was not safety critical, not part of the fail safe mech, it wasn't that great an issue.
