Hello,
Sorry wasn't clear, asking the rechromer to straighten it for you as they will have the way of doing it with minimal damage.
Will the postage be cheaper in the EU or if you find one in Poland and get it sent in the EU?

won't be rechroming. will live with the scars. I am not precious about it. the little car has been seeing a lot of action recently and that is what it is for.

Yep you got it with the S type.
Best bit is the 6 speed auto box.

Has anyone got tips for making night driving less unpleasant?
I don’t think I’d driven in the dark since before covid until last night and had forgotten how dazzling modern headlights are - and I’m convinced that street lighting is dimmer and it exacerbates it.
Driving on the A12 it was just generally very hard to gauge distance of cars behind in either lanes, both in wing and rearview mirrors. Flicking the switch on the rearview just made it feel like the mirror wasn’t there and was even more difficult.
Wearing contacts means that by the evening my eyes are pretty dry anyway, so having a fixed gaze driving makes that worse too. But driving at night with glasses is shitty because of the glare.
Are those night driving glasses they sell at petrol stations good for anything? Or just the ultimate Alan Partridge accessory?
I’m 40 soon and this really makes me feel it.

That’s a cool car, I’d love one but they are £30k plus now…I’ve got a coupe but would love the wagon for dog practicalities

My honest answer to this is (if you are not already doing so) to drive a car with the latest headlights- I used to really struggle to see where I was going in the Volvo with standard incandescent bulbs, whereas the LED projectors in the E63 are amazing and mean that even with my old man eyes I am confident that I can see where the road goes.

Cheers dude. Noted

I did actually replace a headlight the other day with the OEM bulb and I can see that it’s slightly less bright than the existing one.
I saw some off-brand LED alternatives. Reckon they are worth a try?

Tried amber/yellow glasses?
-
• #67888
That’s what I meant by the ones I’ve seen in the petrol station. Are they any good? Might just get some and try.

Tried these when cycling and worked well. https://www.screwfix.com/p/bolle-slam-yellow-lens-safety-specs/1831h
Or was thinking of getting a pair of yellow shooting glasses from decathlon.

Nice one. Thanks

If you can, get glasses with different anti glare coating, not just the basic stuff. Makes a world of difference. I tried contacts once, hated them as they exacerbated glare in twilight situations.

No suggestions but I struggled with being dazzled on the A12 near Snape and also on the A1094 on Wednesday night last week. Felt like I was driving literally without being able to see at points.

@J0nathan - there's definitely a shit combo of over bright aftermarket bulbs in old German cars and SUVs with bright lights too high up.
I've tried a cheap pair of the yellow glasses. Not convinced, but they're buttons from AliExpress so give it a shot. What I found helps is remember to dim your rear view mirror and (assuming you have the option) reducing the brightness of your internal dials. Oh and remember to make sure your lights are set to the correct level.
@ anyone else - I'd love some headlight bulb suggestions for my mk6 golf. I miss the xenons on my mini.

I hope you've all got matching stringback gloves and a cap to go with your driving glasses.

I found that replacing the inner reflective housing made more of a difference than dicking around with bulbs, but honestly lights on older cars are just crap.

New wiper blades also make a surprising difference (or clean the existing ones).
-
• #67897
Ah yes. I am very particular about having good quality ones and replacing them. I spray the windscreen about every 10 minutes!
-
• #67898
Yeah, I did think it was a bit of a waste of time.
Really I just need the second hand V60s to get down in price sooner, although I found myself looking at A5s and A7s, which is probably the start of some kind of crisis.

It was this monstrosity in my rearview that had the worst effect.
