To me, he is fairly clearly a rider for the Spring classics, who has lost direction by trying to become a stage racer.
You could argue he’s a better stage race rider than he is a one day rider: 2nd and 5th on GC at Paris-Nice, 4th on GC at Tirreno, 4th on GC at the Tour de Suisse.
