It's the second frame I've ever build ✌️

Always hated those decals. I've managed to wet sand it to a satin, not sure if I'll give it a gloss clear coat.

Absolutely love this bike. The brain worm wants me to change the fenders for metal ones and get a nice front rack but realistically there's no need whatsoever.

Painting can finally continue after weeks of miserable weather. A single colour really exposes every tiny imperfection, I had reasonable success replicating the splatter on the fork so will probably get a tin of blue paint to splatter the frame. I think an inverse of the fork could look good.

Ace, bought a set of (hopefully) lightly used 42 Ramparts for €40. There's a worm in the GravelKings, took a while to seal too. And I think already some sidewall repair done by @BareNecessities ? It's making me nervous and I don't care about being fast anyway.

There was the tiniest pinhole in the sidewall which was giving me a slow puncture, but a blob of flexible superglue seemed to sort that

When you get them I wouldn't mount the chain between the rim and the tyre personally.

Looks great black to me.

Front looks like a wonky seated tubeless tyre too. 2/10, try again.

Planning a small frame bag for the Kona, I contemplated going for a big one like dammit's and drinking from a bladder but I prefer bottles and will just make a big one for longer rides when I feel the need. And I want to do an experiment on this one so it'd be better to cock up on a small bag rather than wasting heaps of material.

You could make it non-triangle shape and have it go from where you have the end of the zip currently to the N on Kona, leaving just space for the bottle, then get a side loading bottle cage

I've been putting my bottles in the frame bag, which has worked out well, and also keeps them nice & clean
Partly because I didn't consider Camelbak bladder size when measuring out my bag...

@PhilDAS tbh I'm not even sure what I'll be carrying in the frame bag so it doesn't need to be bigger than this. And I've never really liked side loading cages.
@BareNecessities I have no words for this. Oh and the GK's could well be fine, I'll get some flexible superglue to reinforce the worm from the inside and put them back on in summer to eke out the last bit of life in them.

I love that Kona! Didn't see it on here before.
I'd say stick with the triangular shape you got there. It is very visually pleasing to me how it stays parallel to the downtube.
You sometimes see some really weirdly shaped frame bags trying to maximise the space around the bottles. I personally don't like that at all. -

No I agree, although full sus bikes are an exception for me. And I shamefully haven't ridden the Kona in ages, just topped up sealant this weekend and will be taking it for a spin soon.

Never buying cheap cages again. Dropper cage is a good addition, I see a half frame bag in my future.

Last bit of white, splatters tomorrow. Thinking of doing a front to back fade like on my LeveL, if it turns out shit I can just go over it to make it uniform. Right?

What's wrong with cheap cages?

Not that much, they mostly do their job and don't have to look awful, but these King cages are way nicer.
It's a custom frame built by this forum's very own @Jaap .
