I've got a bag of maltodextrin and a bag of fructose in the cupboard waiting to try some DIY formulations. Still not got around to it yet because using mix is more convenient for a lazy git.

2/3 reel posts a year, 4 stories and a q&a post. Yes i do like them, it's just expensive compared to making my own stuff (remember the gels in the earlier posts)
Haha I unsubscribed to those a while ago

I tried. They never stopped. I've emailed them about it and got nothing. If it ends up like another BT situation and I go and track down every senior member of staff and CC them into an ICO threat email then anyway, this is a side issue.
Personally, I don't like sponsorship, I like the idea of being able to slag off everyone equally. :) But I have a decent paying job that allows me to do that. If you're comfortable money-wise, is a sponsorship deal really worth it?
(I did have a Torq deal but I was already using their stuff and continue to use their stuff after the deal)

Cheers. I’ve got a bag of it waiting for the end of my current stash of mix. Will give this a go. I like the idea of having a few different squash options in the house to keep things fresh.

It's a difficult decision as I'm fairly similar to you in the respect of liking to self support, the issue is that I'm about to exchange for a house so any extra help would be appreciated. I can see where my disposable income will go next year and it won't be a new groupset and wheels for my R3. I've been approached by clothing brands etc previously and I turned them down because "I'm not an influencer, I'm just a guy who rides his bike a lot", they were things that I haven't used or know about so it wouldn't benefit me at all.
'Also, it's late in the game. You don't want them taking a bunch of credit when they're only getting on board late Oct...'
This is something I need to discuss with them, as it's my challenge. If they push and it helps build my charity sponsorship then that would be amazing but if they start saying look what we're doing etc etc then it's a no from me.

It works well, it might take a while for your body to get used to it but I've found that I'm not hungry when I get home which is great
-
• #333
Exactly. You don't want them muddying the waters, taking a bunch of credit, etc.
You've got a mortgage or will have - how much will free sugar actually save you vs. the time for the content? It's nothing much compared to the mortgage right?
I'm basically talking you out of it - but if YOU think it's a good idea/deal then go for it. I'd be more inclined to just push them for promo support which benefits you both, with no longer term "in exchange for x" stuff.

I've had a brief read of the contract and I need to assess what to do. It's for 3 months initially for a trial (length of the remaining challenge...)
Yes, it's pretty much sorted. Doing this won't change anything with that at all. I'm really undecided as you can tell. I'm doing this challenge for me and to raise money/awareness for Men's mental health/Suicide prevention, so things like this opportunity is nice but it's not that important to me.
It won't save me much money, as my nutrition is as cheap as possible because I get through so much. It will help with recovery/bars though as i do have a liking for biscuits and chocolate which isn't the healthiest.

biscuits and chocolate which isn't the healthiest.
Care factor 0
If I was riding 100k every day for a year I'd want whatever little treats I felt like. There are some nice protein bars these days though but they're spendy and I'd rather eat a tub of ice cream. :)

Dunking biscuits enjoyment factor: 10
It's a constant battle to try and stay awake between the hours of 3-4pm so eating everything in sight helps.

Wouldn't bother unless you want to pursue the #influencer life. Sounds like you don't sound too fussed either.
-
• #338
The end decision was thanks but no thanks for the role. I was only deliberating about it as they're a decent brand and I could make good use of their products but when I saw the contract it said influencer on the top and it was a complete no for me. That life is not for me

You can always dm me if you want to get an appraisal of a situation
But I wouldn't let terms like that bother you, they just have to call it something for their internal marketing budget.

I agree with your choice.

Good on ya! Less stress is besst.
-
• #342
Definitely less stressful, but what is more stress is that one of my dogs is in season and the other one is exhausted (poor lad). I'm actually worried about his back as he's been a busy boy lately.
I finished yesterday on day 271 - 27,172km, I had an evening off on Tuesday and ended doing 100km on the turbo yesterday which was rank

• #343
For an update, I'm currently on day 278 and sitting around 50/60km up on the overall total which is nice. I've got Friday off work so I will try and get back to being 100km/1 day up on the challenge.
It won't be long until both ways of my commute are done in the dark so I'm sorting out more lights/reflective clothing. There's definitely been an increase in near misses with riding in the dark, it's been quite annoying. Drivers seem to think I'm a light and not a person so now I'm going to look like an Xmas tree
-
• #344
congrats buddy, keep up the good work.
Light-wise: I do dress as Xmas tree on every commute but, at least in Brum city, near misses are happening quite often.
I hope very soon car manufacturer will stop having all these devices working while people driving...in particular fuqing smartphones and social media whatsoever... -

I've gone for a front and rear light on my helmet, hopefully with my head moving cars will think twice. People around here are normally ok, so it's been a surprise to see how they have reacted since it's gotten dark.
I've started to do workouts on zwift in an attempt to vary the riding, I'm trying 2x interval sessions a week . The main reason is to get some fitness gains in the run up to completing this challenge (87 days left) plus my internet is interesting in the garage so at times I'm on zwift by myself. I don't particularly enjoy zwift and it's definitely worse when riding on yer tod so workouts help

I remain in awe of this endeavour. Keep on truckin'!

I do dress as Xmas tree
Doesn't matter if the arsehats aren't looking. Like the pensioner that almost took me out on the way to a pub quiz last night. Thought it was because the prick was old and blind but turns out he's added 'staring at the phone in his lap' to the mix, because driving wasn't dangerous enough.
I should've ghostied my Kona into the side of his car and punched the phone into his gob. aaaand relax.

That is incredibly frustrating though.. it's peoples bad decisions like that, which put our lives as cyclists at risk. The lanes in which I ride to work are narrow and it really annoys me when cars continue to accelerate when passing.
Anyway cycling is fun yay.
I'm finding the mid-week more difficult now as the light has gone but I'm glad I've only got 87 days left
-
• #349
Can you alter work hours to give you more light, less peak hour? I've stopped commuting now and do lunch rides instead these days, which is kinda nice.
-
• #350
Sadly not, as the work times are fixed. The holidays are very flexible though so I'm going to take the odd half/full day when needed to complete this challenge. I'm really just pushing now to get to Christmas as I have 10 days off then and after this it's the last few weeks.
You could always say "thanks but no thanks" on the promo stuff, but see if they will be into pushing your cause a bit, just because it's a nice thing to do and that wins points for them also.
Also, it's late in the game. You don't want them taking a bunch of credit when they're only getting on board late Oct...
