I'd really like to convert my S2L to 3 speed but i don't know if i can bring myself to run a friction shifter.
Some chat on Reddit suggests people are using a 3x front mtb shifter but i can't believe the pull ratio is the same

It doesn't need to be, because the upper and lower sprocket positions are set by the limit screws. The springs under the chainstay take up any additional travel in the cable. It would only not work if there was too little travel in the cable.
Not that I've tried it.

Nah. The limit screws are bullshit.

Sorry, which part do you disagree with?

the limit screws;
Yes, they do adjust the DR, and they do limit it, but 95% of the time if you set them correctly, the DR then does not shift correctly!

I'm not in any rush (as i've only just put the post 2017 trigger shift on) so if there's something more "official" on the way i'll happily wait.
On that topic though, and this is the real question - which is the best bell for the 2017> trigger setup? Thinking of going mad and getting the Knog Oi Luxe

I ended up going for the Knog, mainly because finding either the Spur cycle or Crane ones was quite hard locally, and then they reduced the knog by $20 on Monday too

Recommendations for a rear dynamo light? I'm guessing the folding/unfolding has damaged the wiring for the one currently on there, I've had to solder and repair it once already.
I don't mind the Brompton one, but though't I'd check before replacing.

I like my B+M Toplight line plus. Crucially it has a button to short out the standlight, so you can wheel your Brompton onto a railway platform. However, the wiring connectors are on the opposite side of the light to the Brompton/Spanninga ones, so it's a bit tight to reuse the existing wiring loom; if you're fitting a new one, this is obviously not a problem.

I have this brompton one, seems to work great but have been told off by railway staff more than once when standing on platforms waiting for a train...!
-

You can swap it with mine if you like as the stand light bit is broken. Works fine when moving but switches off as soon as you stop. Apparently fairly common.
The railway staff can sod off though, if you are in the UK. Trains drivers are supposed to have route knowledge that means they aren't looking at red lights that aren't relevant to them including on platforms. It would be different someone like Belgium where they drive on sight alone, and have different signalling overlaps etc as a result.

Does changing to 100/135 hubs not mess with the fold?
-
• #10375
No sir!
The rear doesn’t change much, the pedal sticks out on a normal Brompton, on the 135rear that just sits in line, with the 100 front the bike is just a bit wider
Just hold your horses for a few weeks and ask again…. I’m reading between the lines but I think it’s worth waiting! At at least I’m not bolting on this triangle until it’s confirmed
