• When you say negatively affect the image, do you mean vignetting? Which can be an issue but easier to fix in post. Colour shift? An issue not related to focal length but again ok to deal with in post. Or the X type affect? I think that is mainly an issue with variable ND's at UWA focal lengths and is a nightmare to deal with.

  • Not entirely sure. X affects were mentioned in 1 review, but it also said:

    Variable NDs can create unwanted effects with ultra-wide lenses, so longer focal lengths are best.

    I think that answers my question really.

    As it is would be on a 10-20 (admittedly on an APS-C sensor) I was wondering what my options would be.

    Doesn't need to be variable, might just spring for a few of various strengths ND filters
