I ended up buying a pair of Ralph Lauren 'double RL' Officer chinos from their store behind Carnaby St. Nice thick cotton twill, button fly and not too wide on the leg. No logos!
Your abstinence from buying is impressive, we've definitely curbed our frivolous spending but still slip into the trap of convincing ourselves we 'need' stuff. My problem is two sets of clothes, fat me and thin me, depending on what state of injury/depression/obsession I'm in.

Popping into town tomorrow to invest in some decent chinos - vintage prep style rather than military wide leg. On my hit list is Son of a Stag and American Vintage (never been to either), other recommendations please!
