yeah - inclined to agree. I like the first pics I posted because of the bedside table but if I was to go for that scheme, the wardrobes would be significantly more shallow and so compromise storage. am erring towards the bedside table scheme though, as storage not paramount (because it is only for the secondary bedroom.)
I wonder if you could put a little cut out into the side of the deeper wardrobes in scheme 2, to give you some phone/book/coffee space - expect this is v tricky otherwise they'd have done it on the above house (which had the money gun shot at it)

I work in e-comm, we’ve already done this with a third party service, I'm surprised they haven't too (maybe the cost/ROI is too much).
