    Yess it's still a thing

  • Cape epic is live on YouTube each morning this week. So far a load of old guys pushing up and down the hills in the prologue

  • how is grupetto letting you wear that jersey with the rest of the outfit?!

  • Pair of these in the right colour and used but good condition came up on eBay and won them for Ā£43.

If they arrive in time theyā€™ll get a run out on Friday

  • You should know by now that I give no fucks about colour matching anything.

I'm sure if any sheep were visually offended than can contact the club.

  • The MTB in Poland has Formula K24 brakes on it. One of them isn't working, so I'm assuming it needs a bleed. I think trying to talk someone through a bleed process remotely is somewhat silly so I reckon I'll just tell them to take it to a shop but does anyone know what fluid these need, in case we try to DIY the fix?

Also, any idea what model number pads it needs so I can find something that will fit?

    I assume these are ok:

Might just get them to throw Shimano on. Fuck it.

  • Install magura, please

  • Might just get them to throw Shimano on. Fuck it.

  • I have Magura on the Inbred so I do actually have a bleed kit for it but I wouldn't bother buying new Magura. I'll see what answers I get back. I don't know how good the local bike shop is.

  • I don't use aliexpress but it is probably easier to just throw Shimano on it rather than fick around with old brakes. I can't do anything about it at the moment anyway, she's gone out (after crashing her one brake bike down a hill, the lunatic)

  • If your Polish LBS can fix them I could imagine a certain Pace bike being sent there for servicing.

  • I don't know what's special about the newer Maguras but I had no trouble with my old ones. The Formula K24 on my Voodoo though, I've never touched.

  • get Shimano Mt200, plenty good and cheap, amazon/ebay/anywhere

they come with resin pads as stock, not bad till you kill them, replace with sintered

  • Oooh any pictures?

Soz I'm not great at taking good photos of my bikes...

Would like silver post and bars but maybe too far? Wouldn't really see it under the mud anyway šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
Used to run this bike single speed with a polished SBone tensioner which tied together well with crankset. Black derailleur needs to be silver too really.

  • You don't happen to have a pic before polishing but after the de-anodizing?

They come out a dull matt silver before polishing. A bit like the colour of old Shimano LX.
The logos are lazer etched and hard to get into the nooks and crannies. I used various small brushes and polishing heads with dremel for those bits.

A couple spoons of caustic soda crystals into a tupperware box with some water. Submerged the whole crank arm and within a minute you start to see the water discolour as the black anodising comes off. Use an old toothbrush to help it along.
I had to repeat the process a few times to get it all off as I was worried about leaving them in for too long.
Polishing part too long and boring to describe here.

  • Never bothered with any wax etc. They haven't melted away in almost a year of riding them like that

  • Thanks for the thorough reply!
They look good in matte, but of course shiny is better! But can imagine that this shape was time consuming polish.
Also very good on your big black bike.
Was just suggesting wax as an alternative to oiling, might keep them shiny a bit longer.

  • 8 finger braking?

  • Who's buying brakes? Just pulled a set of m8100 of my Ripley.

  • @ user dammit, etc

  • Interested- PMed.

  • trying to find a replacement ( new ) 10 speed block 11 - 36t for my xt m785 groupset, seem to be out of stock everywhere

can i use an mt77x series block 10 speed like this one
    https://winstanleysbikes.co.uk/shimano-deore-xt-m771-10-speed-cassette?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzIjajNXT8wIV7AyLCh1_rQcPEAQYBCABEgKHtPD_BwE#11-34t-10-speed

and what are the differences ? is it like a dura ace 7800 groupset changing to a 7900 ? the xt went from xt77x to 78x is that the progression ?

  • Any Shimano/SRAM compatible 10 speed one will do, so that or whatever else you fancy to save some money/change your ratios.

  • I've got a 31.6 150mm Reverb going if anyone's interested.
