Note the 7 speed xx1 axs derailleur

Noted! Have to say I was considering going for the TRP TR12 gearing on next build but would be very tempted by GX Eagle AXS for not interstellar priced wireless shifting.
Also that polished silver cockpit is the stuff of dreams. I love that Chromag kit!

Yeah I really like the silver bars and stem.
I finished my Nomad with raw/polished finishing kit. Removed the anodising from the cranks and polished them, stem, seat clamp and pedals all raw. The bars and seatpost are still to do. Been looking for a silver 31.6 Thomson forever.
I have axs on my Mtb, it’s great but if I’m honest the real main appeal is the elimination of cables. It just looks very neat having only brake hoses showing.
I’m constantly watching eBay for cheap gx axs -

Oooh any pictures? I'm definitely thinking of doing the same for next years Marino build! How are the polished aluminium surfaces holding up in terms or oxidising?

I done it first. And I’ve got bigger quads than that weakling.

I’ll get pics. The cranks looked great right up until the bike was used. I give them a wee buff with autosol every now and then. I’ve taken them off once since the initial polish to bring them back up with the polishing wheel. But it’s obvs a huge pain in the tits and I doubt I’ll do anything other than use autosol again.

Cranks half way through the process.
Thought about using the special sauce to remove the anodising from my black Thomson but the polishing would maybe remove a tiny amount of material causeing it to slip 🤷♀️
Need to find a good photo of the whole bike -

what was the bolt under the BB he kept fiddling with?

I think it was adding resistance to the cranks. To stop them spinning while doing sweet stuntz.
Makes it easier to get your feet back on the pedals if you know they are likely to stay in the same position. -

ah right, thanks!

Anyone got any clipless with platform surround for mtb’ing recommendations.
Thinking I’d like to go clipless on the hardtail but going to move to MT7 shoes rather than my Sidi Dominators so want a bit of platform too

I think that's it alright, also the griptape on the cranks looks like a lot of fun but also a great way to get through a pair of shoes quickly...

Tried my DMR Vtwins out yesterday, they seemed pretty good, pricey though.

Shimano Saint are good, if you can find them for a not ridiculous price

These might be worth a punt

Had a peek at these in Surrey Quays today. They actually look pretty good and no doubt would stop any rain getting in, but you'd almost certainly drown from your own sweat within 15mins

You don't happen to have a pic before polishing but after the de-anodizing?
How did you strip them?
I have those cranks on my brownish Stooge, and the apple green bargain colour is not ideal. -

I have a new phone, I’ll need to go through my old one to find the photos.
You don’t happen to be in central Scotland?
-
• #22049
Ah that would be nice if you could do that! Don't think I'll manage more commitment than a oven cleaner bath...
Re keeping them shiny, have you tried waxing them? Will also rub off, but carnauba is great stuff. No, pretty far away from Scotland, I am in Berlin.

@Black_Rainbow_Project had good things to say about the new hope clipless pedals.
I’ll pm you with the deets
