It's just another one of those display pieces that LEGO's been doing a lot of. Quite a lot of people seem to enjoy a LEGO one-off so they can put it on their mantelpiece/wherever.
In this case, it seems as if the initiative was Fender's, as there's also one from Mega Construx (minus the amp), so perhaps Fender approached both companies.

It looks better largely because they've gone for a single-piece scratchplate.

All Lego recently has been a one off, that's how they sell them.
The last time I saw multiple build instructions was the first lego Technic car.
Yeah. That is the gap between kid stuff and new stuff.
