Yeah but this frame has been sitting in my living room since last winter. It came with missing bolts, dropouts, and wrong shock. Stif did sort most of it out. It probably was a warranty replacement.

Interested in your opinion on it? Honestly don't think I could find a fault with it. Happy knocking out 35 mile fire road rides and also smashing down single track + more. The perfect do it all.
Mine came with the wrong Burgtec axle come to think of it. @TotalShanner what's your thread/pitch? It'll probably fit one of yours, or you can build a bike around it :D

Already upgraded both my SC Mtb’s with burgtec axles 😂
I’m taking credit for recommending the TB4 to you. Now everyone seems to bloody have one in the colour I wanted.
If the thread pitch fits the stig I’ll ‘av it.

It's wider than my TB4. So guess not cos' BOOOOOOOOOOOOST.
+1 credit to you.

I've only built it today and got a 90 mins of Wimbledon Common in. Too early to have an opinion.
I did a huck to flat from a set of stairs and it didn't crack under my fat arse so it has that going for it. -

Strange it’s wider. From memory, boost and non boost sc frames use the same dt axle.
So yours probably isn’t even for an SC frame… -

2 stairs?

Did this Nan Bield loop recently - it's a bit of a mission with plenty of "hike-a-bike" but well worth it for the descents... https://www.mbr.co.uk/mountain-bike-routes/nan-bield-lake-district-gps-route-download-319992
We parked at Sadgill. -

Melon Optics Google and glasses are superb and bargz.
I've got Parker goggles and Alleycat glasses. They're very customisable and they do lots of spares.
Wouldn't consider anything else now.

Keep in mind that modern enduro is practically what DH was a decade or so ago, ever gnarlier bikes make getting gnarly easy enough to warrant a full face for a lot of stuff and if you go hard you can do a lot of damage to yourself on otherwise light enough trails if you come down hard in a rock garden or into a tree...
You could consider something like a Bell Super 3R or Super Air R with removable chinbar although I've got a Full 9 for the heavy stuff and wouldn't like anything lighter... I have a Super 3 for trail duty too which is excellent!

The new Chameleon is available as a Mullet, if i wanted to run it full 27.5 how much longer should the fork be?
The standard 29er fork is 130mm I believe but I think they say you can run it with a 140mm 29er fork, if I change to a 170mm 27.5 fork (I have a spare 170mm 36) would that make it too slack? -
• #21964
too slack?
Huh?
-
• #21965
ha, true, I was thinking more about the seat tube angle
-
• #21966
That would collapse my ankles. 1 stairs is all I can afford.

So having asked the question it left me clear that I’d rather have more than less protection. Troy Lee Stage helmet arrived this morning, it’s comfy and my plan is to use it when doing the downhill bits at Forest of Dean and for other bike park duties. My POC trabec will be used for blue runs etc but anything more exciting I think I’ll take the extra protection.
POC goggles ordered because matchy matchy with the rest of my kit.

I admit, goggles for me are about dust management, mud I'd rather manage with a big mudguard.
And maybe clear glasses.
-
• #21969
Yeah, unless I was racing DH/enduro and completing runs in a few minutes goggles are pretty annoying and I’d much rather wear a pair of specs; they still keep the mud/bugs and shit out of your eyes but far less claustrophobic and don’t steam up.
Surely a neck brace is a good idea with a full face?

I've got an Alpinestars neck brace, I only wear it for park/ heavy downhill stuff to be honest which has predominantly just been a trip to Revs and Antur Stiniog a few years ago but rather have it than not.

Did a 30 mile ride on the tallboy today. Nothing radical, a mixture of bridleways, single track, and some rollers. It has few sections that I usually walk up/down when I'm on Ripley. Managed to ride them all today. Even got some air on the rollers on Banstead. The bike is great.
But the effective seat tube angle puts me in a position where it aggravates my knee injury, which I thought was fully healed. So I'll be selling it and going back to Ripley and neck pain.
Frame with both stock and cascade link are now for grabs if any one is interested. Keeping the shock as it's the right size for my other bike. -
• #21972
Can't believe I'm saying this, but have you considered a bike fit?
-
• #21973
Holy shit. That’s a real shame about your knee dude :(
I’ll pm you

What did you think of the Mezzer so far?
-
• #21975
Surely you're not letting that beautiful Mezzer go?
Wait, what?!
I was literally there a few weeks ago and they said no dice. Ended up with one from Pedal and Spoke...
