  • Great shot, great bike, would love one of those 🙂

  • Does anyone know if any of the bikes fitted with the Bosch Cargoline (or similar) have any kind of power outlet for charging/powering other devices? Thinking about how to add additional lights for side visibility etc.

  • i'm sure a pal of mine with a load75 (bosch) said there's an extra port he was planning to use for extra lights

  • Gen 4 motors have a spare 12v port. Would be worth asking your dealer to turn it on if you plan to use it as you can’t do this yourself afaik.

Also worth checking your lights can handle 12v if you’re going to use that plug.. I can’t remember whether you can adjust the output voltage or not

  • How different is the handling of a UA family and a bullitt?

  • Because I always wonder things like this; what do people think r und m would do if a customer refused to give their P70 back. Could a customer hold them to ransom over it? Would r und m be able to leave one out their in the world?

My guess is the owner assumes liability and possibly even renounces their warranty on the bike.

  • How different is the handling of a UA family and a bullitt?

It's roughly the equivalent of a dutch bike vs a track bike.

  • Oh, the UA might be the right choice for me but I'm not sure I want it.

Fully charged have sold all their loads but I didn't really want one.

  • Moved a whole exhibition of paintings today in one go on the UA family, finally got round to taking all the seats out. The big positive here being that it took two trips to get them to the venue, but I sold a few so had less to carry back. I thought the bike would feel overloaded but it was super stable.

Re. the terrible speed wobble on the front, I couldnt find the grub screw on the front steerer IU think it is hidden by the box. However I tied a loop in the rubber band that attaches to the boom ar underneath and that helped a bit

  • was this today and did you go over honor oak around 15:30-ish?

  • Yes would have been heading back empty to crystal palace at that time. Looking forward to living nearer the workshop, single battery only just makes the round trip to Woolwich

  • nice! i saw you as you crested that hill. i was faaaaaar behind in a bus.

  • I ride a UA for work (not the family though) and used to ride a Bullitt. Both ride totally fine once you're up and running, the UA position is more upright, at least with the stock stem/bar combo. The only thing to consider is the slightly larger size of the UA, it makes it a bit more difficult to manoeuvre at low speed and gives you a bigger turning circle. One upside to the UA is the step through frame, I find it a lot easier to get a heavy cargo bike on to it's stand when I'm not on it and it feels a lot easier to control the weight of the bike as you're getting off with the Urban Arrow. Honestly though, it won't take you long to get confident or comfortable riding either of them, they're not that drastically different.

  • I've don't about 500miles on a Bullitt and like it. I have to give it back soon and want something better suited to carrying 2 kids. After the packster fell through the UA seems an obvious choice. I'm a bit concerned that I won't like the position or heft tho.

  • the UA position is more upright

This is what I actually have against bullitt, its such a 'cyclist' cargo bike. I have increased the bar height with Satori easyup all the way up (soon to be replaced with just a steerer tube and CK headset) and a VO Klunker bar

When i changed the position on my bullitt the comfort went up drastically and efficiency went down (I think) but its a fucking cargo bike ?!?

  • One upside to the UA is the step through frame

Another thing ALL cargo bikes should have. Whats the point of not having a non step through frame?!

  • Have you ridden the UA? If so, What do you think?

  • Only like half a mile, loved it, as @ltc said there isnt much between them, you can tweak Bullitt position to UA sort of uprightness if thats what you are after.

Once the motor kicks in, they are all the same.

  • I quite like the position tbh, you're not going to be going anywhere fast and being that upright gives you a feeling of increased control. Which ever you choose you'll like though, they're not that drastically different and they're both well thought out for the most part. It's more storage/wheeling in and out of tight spots that the UA might present slightly more of an issue with.

  • Once the motor kicks in, they are all the same.

    Ha

  • Yeah, I have considered that I'm over thinking it.

UA + proven design, good accessories, big box, position my wife would prefer.

    • big, heavy, large turning circle, position for me.

  • Another thing ALL cargo bikes should have. Whats the point of not having a non step through frame?!

The frame is a LOT stiffer if it's not too step-through though. The high bar on the Bullitt probably takes a lot of bounce out the frame when it's loaded.

  • yeah thats what I thought too I think it comes at a cost of making the frame lighter .. and of course high standover; my partner cant use bullitt because of this sadly

anyway my next bike will be a tern gsd

  • My other half made stem/steerer combos for our Bullitts. Made all the difference position-wise for me. Plus it’s nice to have the Steps/Di2 stuff all integrated and the CK headset integration is the icing on the cake.
