Not great news. Wonder what the exact issue is, Douze have been using a cable system for 8 years + without really any issue (cables slight faff to adjust to right tension/loctite the grub screws). On the upside at least R+M are taking positive action and moving quick on rectifying, some other companies (not talking cargo here, just any old bike) kind of ignore the problem until someone gets hurt, and even then.
Douze + huge box or a 'Ca-Go' is probably the closest to R+M P70, neither are exactly easy to get just now. We have some eBullitt e6100 + EP8 available and those fancy double kiddo seats but up in Glasgow.
