  • Nothing to credit, there are other videos that show spectators barely getting out of the way of cars.

Used to be taken to watch the rallying on the RAC rally when young and supporting all the people participating on the stage and not getting in the way of cars. Nor getting hit from the stones and stuff thrown up from the cars. Seemed sensible to me.

  • Yeah, my hermes alright as the courier ;)

Tempted to come back to the uk and drop 80l of unleaded off to the GF (that is at least 2 weeks of fuel of her) and come back here. Drop off a few car parts I bought to fix my cars and then bring more stuff back to France. Along with the other stuff I brought in France as I have to sort out the GF internet router and spend a few hours with the cats.

EDIT: Am I being stupid to think about about doing a 48hr return?

  • My letterbox accepts liquid 😂😂

  • How bad are CVT gearboxes? I've got a whine on my 2007 qashqai happens in neutral as well as drive. It was assumed the driveshaft was the cause so got that changed. It didnt resolve it

  • I rather fancy an i3

    Same.

I mean it's made with carbon fibre.

@Dammit - I know the brief is for the EV to take a wardrobe. But honestly how often do you need the space in a world where you have a van?

  • The i3 is awful on the inside. Like driving in a German industrial design office with terrible and cheap interior materials. Really unpleasant and rather small too. The Leaf was great on the inside and roomy. Better driving experience too.

  • I tried to do similar a while back.
Settled on good EV, and Zipvan for the days I needed a van.

(plus C's work helped with the EV)

  • I've only seen the inside from the outside, if you see what I mean, but I thought they looked cool. Shame as BMW normally use good quality materials. I wonder if its because lots of it is recycled?

  • The entire design ethos just makes it awful, it is minimalist and cheap. For reference, I had a Nissan Cube as a rental car years ago and it had a nicer interior than the i3.

I get the looks thing, it's why I test drove it, but it was honestly the most disappointing experience. Never been a huge Beemer fan but that just about killed the brand for me.

  • Sainsbury Thornton Heath- but they were down to one pump and said they thought there was only a few car-fulls left I’m afraid. They did say that super was always the last to run out (they had no standard unleaded or Derv). I’ll post here when and where I spot some.

  • On a practical note. How do people clean / freshen up the leather contact points in the car?

Ours have taken a fucking battering over the last two years from our covid antibac routine.

  • I think Fixedwheelnut posted his leather seat refresh? I’ve never done it but looks a lot like you clean, key and then paint it to me.

  • Chris fix on youtube say soapy water on a round paint brush.

  • @Dammit didn't you guys get the golf ev thing? Not huge range but surely a cheap, practical and nondescript EV for just getting about in?

  • 153 mile range on the i3 is pretty poor as well when compared to what else you can get for the sameish £££

  • Cheers for the suggestions.

It's not bad enough to need redying(sp?) or anything.

I usually use moisturising gentle hand soap for my bike leathers. I've got a whole array of shoe stuff, so wondered if a bit of saddle soap followed by Saphire Renovator(sp?) would be a good idea?

Mainly though it's about restoring oils, as unusually what's been happening over covid is that the hand controls have effectively been regularly degreased, rather than the normal scenario of oil from your hands clogging up the leather.

  • Do like that, but then I do have a soft spot for the civic aerodeck.

  • ^^That’s fucking great.

  • Is this just a render of your dream civic build? Looks sick, personally I like the EF.

  • I used to have one of these! Honestly I think it was my favourite car ever. Took it on track a few times - fast enough to be ridiculous fun, not fast enough to get you in trouble.

  • I have no idea why you’re all finding it so hard to do this. You just pop to the supermarket and have your fill.

Of course you do have to not live on Brexit Island.

  • I used to drive i3s for work and really enjoyed it, brilliant car for London. It's quick off the lights, handles like a hockey puck, parks itself if you're patient and good visibility. The only downside were the seats, they are rather flat.

  • Just pulled it from some Instagram page. Not my dream build, I'm just a Civic fanboy EF, EG, EK

  • I'm more convinced by the day that the camper company have used my van for someone else's build.

I called them ~9am on Tuesday, they said they'd call me straight back, could see my email (from the previous week) and "owed me a response".

    Nothing.

Called them this morning at the same time, "Oh yes, I'm going to call VW and then I'll call you straight away".

    ~3pm and nothing.

Because I love the binfire thread and want to be in at as much as possible, I'll re-state that this is a brand new, heavily customised vehicle that's currently quoted cost is £72,000.

Repeatedly having to chase, with no response, simply to ask the question "when is the van arriving?" isn't what I expected.

I had anticipated some engagement with their design team ahead of the scheduled start of November delivery date by now, for e.g.
