  • his is my argument to get an RS4/6...

    Well, I'm persuaded, nay convinced.

  • It is mildly ludicrous.

  • Logic cannot be denied.

  • My 996 is a South Africa car- ordered from Porsche Middle East and (unsure on this but it’s what it looks like) imported into the UK straight from delivery.

It means that fuel economy is in litres/100Km, and that can’t be changed to mpg. Only difference to a UK/C16 car, but it’s definitely a difference.

Which means I never really keep an eye on it.

I get around 400 miles to a tank, same as with the E63.

  • It had done 16mpg. If I'm calculating correctly. 55 litres to 470 kilometres

That’s 292 miles and 12 UK gallons, so 24 mpg.

    Sorry.

My heavy 2 litre turbo Saab convertible routinely got 35-ish, so not sure what your Audi is doing with the rest.

  • My car does nobodygivesafuckjustgoanfdrivethefuckingthing mpg I think, but I haven’t checked lately.

  • Depends on what you are doing - in early Covid when I was on the continent with my C55 the range question was very important. We had to plan our route based on what distance we could cover per tank - it was (according to the Home Office) ok to go through a red-country as long as you didn't stop there, so we could cut through France for e.g. but not visit a petrol station.

I've taken the 911 before simply because it could go further on a tank than the estate could, and was therefore more practical.

  • Ah, right I used some random calculator on the internet. Maybe US gallons... Not that I know what that is!

Even so, I know where my fuel goes... Quattro system matched to very sticky 255 width Michelin 4s tyres, hauling roughly 1600kg around and me having a heavy right foot because I still find it funny how you can mash the throttle in the wet and get flung forward without drama. That and lots of stop start driving, don't get much highway cruising in at the moment.

  • Isn't Sydney one big traffic jam most of the time?

  • Put 7 quid petrol in the Fiat this morning. Filled it up though was just over half full anyway.
The hunt for some diesel will be this afternoons fun.

  • Half a tank for seven quid. Amazing!

  • At the moment, nope! It's actually been really nice during lockdown. Much less traffic and much less noise in our flat.

  • I love the sheer pointlessness of the SS version of these. Like the whole product team just said "fuck it" after a night on the beers.

Top marks for mandatory fuzzy dice although I am split on those American Racing rims. The Salt Flats or VN327 vintage AR options are better choices than the Torq Thrusts. Fight me.

  • Agree-ish. The TT's look a bit cheesy aftermarket on this but then the salt flats would need to be fully polished to work in 15" so still a bit tarty. Centreline's might toughen it up a little.

EDIT: looking again they might be bigger then 15"

  • it is a very small tank.

  • Repl

The BMW x4/ x6 and whatever the merc equiv is are just the most nonsense cars right now. Its like, you want a huge, tall, suv type car, with comfort, and a big boot, but then you want it lowered, with rock hard seats and solid suspension, and then chop the boot off it to make it look like a Nike trainer, and then it still actually handles like a van. 100% guaranteed to make kids vom within 10 mins of being in one. Literally what is the point other than to ensure everyone else on the road knows you are deficient as a human being.

Every person I've seen driving one, I'd be very happy to not know or have to interact with them ever.

  • Is that a CX estate in GTI trim? Can imagine exactly what it smells like inside, got a link to the advert? Have fancied something stupid and french for a while (was a really tidy bog spec R5 on a local street, little old lady had since new (1986-90 ish age), approx 50k on it from new and a fixable amount of rust, super sure someone squished it with a van whilst it was parked as spotted old brown tinted glass where it used to be parked and never seen it again.

  • No X6M Competition for you for Christmas then!

  • Funny you say the back looks like a trainer. To me it looks like the rolls on the back of a scaffolding contractor’s neck. Evocative aren’t they.

  • Couple of youngtimer brethren on a village green whilst out today

  • The leather interior is a turbo gti I think. So the very top of the range.

While the white one is a carbed 2.2

Will get a link one facebook is back

  • Looks like a screen cap from a Midsomers Murder episode where the plot device involves a car club.

  • Last communication I had from the camper place was 25th of August. That email gave me an order number, and said that their VW account manager was on leave and they’d give me more details of my order when they came back.

I emailed them this morning as I’ve heard nothing since- had no reply.

Is this par for the course when buying new? It’s been a bit disappointing so far- always chasing/never anticipated.

  • Is it new from VW or are they a 3rd party? Might be a bit old-school (shit) and only really respond to phone calls.
I’ve only bought one vehicle brand new from the manufacturer (bmw motorbike) and the dealer was sending endless screenshots of build updates from their internal system.
