Are we still on lighting solutions? We’ve just moved house and the new place is basically a shade trap. Any recommendations for floor lamps?
We’ve got a type 75 anglepoise for reading but could really do with some more directional lights. The Ligne Roset Trepied is a bit stark to go with the rest of what we have. Any other suggestions?

No hand rail on the stairs either

For the best part of £800k I’d want a proper sink, that one looks tiny!

For the best part of £800k I’d want a third bedroom and a garden.
Done some nice work on it, and that cycle storage I’ve had my eye on for a while since @senorbear posted it up, raises it in my estimation, but not sure it’ll tickle the fancy of those who don’t have bikes to store.. -

If it's just a shade you're after then i would say paper is the way to go. You want something that'll disperse the light in all directions but also won't look oppressive when the light is off. The Akari range do have some low profile offerings but they're still very expensive.
Not sure what rooms you're putting them in but you could consider suspending them over furniture (low table in seating areas or over beds etc) to avoid the obvious head height issues. I have low ceilings so suspended my PH5 over a low table which looks nice but i'm about to swap it for an IKEA paper pendant to get more light in the room.
I'd start by getting a decent light source (bulb) no warmer than 2700k with an all round glow (Calex do a high output opal) then as per the suggestion on the previous page get an IKEA to see how well it works. If it's good for you then it'll be worth saving up for the low pro Noguchi. If it's still dingy then i suspect the room is too big for a single pendant and you might as well hang whatever looks cool and beef up your low level lighting.

On the ceiling lamp topic, always been a fan of the cloud lamp by Susi and Ueli Berger.

I think I'm going to go all out and spunk £16 on two shades from Argos: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9405383?clickSR=slp:term:paper%20lamp%20shades:1:116:1
The copywriting on this page won me over more than anything.

Just caught the end of the grand designs with the natural pond/pool thing. Wow that garden and pond pool thing was so nice the house wasn't bad either.

Cheers for mentioning this.
I've always loved the idea of a natural swimming pool ever since they first became a thing. Bit gutted that it was £100k for it. But then Kevin said a swimming pool is £70k, which is more than I thought they were. But that may just be UK pricing as they're uncommon.
The house was well detailed and worked well. Just not my thing aesthetically.
