• Also interesting (or probably not) I'm now looking at my mpg. First, unsurprisingly a small engine with a turbo in a heavish car full of crap and kids only does 30-38mpg. Second, the official figures are only 47mpg anyway.

    I wonder if its just the reality of 10yo car technology. Or if for our use a bigger engine would actually be more economical.

  • Diesel or petrol?

    I’ve been pleasantly surprised with getting 50mpg out of our 2L turbo petrol seat over distance. Actually higher than the official figure!
    Around town it’s more like 38mpg and somewhere in between the two if you have a heavy foot and do some ‘driving’.

  • Petrol.

    I think a large part is the number of uphill sections on the way to nursery.

    Our average driving cover each type of road pretty equally - town, country, fast A/motorway.
