Pressure test is on cold cars cooling system and manually puts pressure on the system. Then you see if the system holds the pressure.

The desire to find a good 504 is strong. There's actually quite a few around in the rural areas of Aus. Fairly rust free too. Just need garage space!

Austrailia isn't left hand drive...I did find a 504 4x4 pickup for less than €1000 and thought that the 4x4 system must be worth that.

Rust free body is the thing as you can import the mechanics.

I seem to want a R8 gordini or a r12 gordini. The R8 looks right while the r12 is just because my godparents had one when i was small. Reality is that neither will happen but I can dream.

We were meant to go to friend's kids birthday this weekend, but it's a bit of a way. Still have ¾ of a tank (plus whatever is in my motorbike I guess) but we need to drive to get child no1 to nursery. So as harsh as it sounds we don't really want to spunk a load of fuel to stand in a church hall.

Also interesting (or probably not) I'm now looking at my mpg. First, unsurprisingly a small engine with a turbo in a heavish car full of crap and kids only does 30-38mpg. Second, the official figures are only 47mpg anyway.

I wonder if its just the reality of 10yo car technology. Or if for our use a bigger engine would actually be more economical.

Are mpg readings actually accurate? My 15yo car gets 55mpg easily, but I'm conscious it's a VW so might all be bullshit.

Re: MPG chat. I bought a set of Goodyear efficient grip performance 2’s for the e46 (2l diesel, touring).

They claim to add efficiency and my mpg has gone from 42 to 45.6 (after letting the average settle for a month or two). Which is a saving of about £115 over 10k miles. Even if the exact numbers are off (real vs claimed MPG) I’m still gonna be saving cash.

New tyres increase MPG as they are bigger ;) But that said EU ratings mean you can compare tyres and some tyres are quieter often wonder how the tyre is constructed to do that.

The prii that we had ran fuel efficient tyres that had some scary handling...

Got 60mpg out of the jag as I was driving it gently...but then it was a long journey

we have just been using Next Door platform to find out which of our village pumps has anything. managed to score £30 of diesel yesterday. one garage had petrol only. two were completely closed. then I found the diesel. all within short range.

Apparently everything that ever happens on any street is a ruse deployed to case out houses for robberies.
Also, “cat spotted in garden, polite request to owner to stop cat coming in our garden please” is a regular post. Have they ever interacted with a cat/animal in their lives?! I signed up as I heard it was good for business (sparky) but all the enquiries had red flags all over them, so I promptly deleted my advert!
