That’s 5 mins from here. It is cool.

Wasn't (dredge post) house where Gadget Man, with Richard Ayoade, was filmed?
The Lime House or Lyme House or something?
-
• #4055
Apparently it was the set for Gadget Man.

That's lovely - it's setting in the grounds is pretty perfect and such a timeless design. If you saw that being built today you wouldn't be at all surprised.

Lampshades, talk to me. I have fairly low-ish ceilings and have two lights to adorn with shades. What are all the cool kids buying? I actually quite like rattan and origami shades but wondered if there is anything else interesting out there.
They need to be fairly neutral in colour and obviously quite shallow due to height.

Points to Noguchi for me.

Or a wider Nelson Bubble shade?

PH5 mini!

Nelson is the other obvious choice in that style, I just have a preference for the natural materials and wobbliness of Noguchi.

I can't get onboard with the Nelson Bubble, its petty but the stainless steel ring is really jarring for me.
A PH5 mini would be quite the luxe choice, however my place is very old (~1790) - I feel like it might clash too much with the stonework / general old house vibe. I did nearly get one for my last place just couldn't justify the expense.

Get the £1.75 Ikea ones https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/regolit-pendant-lamp-shade-white-handmade-70103410/ whilst you decide and then never get round to replacing them.

Is there a good level of daylight in the room/s? Will you be using them in the daytime? Are they the main source of light in the evening or are they mostly decorative?
-

Sadly i cannot get behind this one but the old flatish one they used to sell for £6 was excellent. I'm about to use one with a Factorylux rose and cable and a decent lamp. Might still find them on Ebay.

get a sinnerlig if you've got room (though maybe not from the sounds of things)

PH5 mini
Looks great in most rooms IMO but gives out very little usable light
-
• #4068
Or the forum-approved Flos Glo-Ball?
-
• #4069
thanks everyone for bringing my attention to the PH5 mini - on the list for the future kitchen

Always like Bareber Osgerby for Ozeki hotaru fittings which have a origami/natural material sensibility. Alternatively Norm Architects Hashira floor lights?
We have Flos IC F2 which is nice but a bit delicate with the thin stem. Paired with a Bega sphere pendant for full globe/brass effect.

have two lights to adorn with shades
Just to confirm, are you saying you have the rose/cable/lamp and you're just after a shade?

I wonder what plants they have in theirs.
It's like a mini version of Ricardo Bofill's place
