The bitumen stuff? A friend just got done dealing with that. Overstock on belts/discs, that stuff gums up or chews through them like nobody's business.
I really enjoyed using the main sander. With a decent mask and good hearing protection, it's a very zen job. Shut everyone and everything out for a few hours. Although, lugging it up to the loft room was no fun single handed, especially the narrow top staircase. It's like a 45kg 1970's vacuum cleaner.

Probably worth scraping the worst of it off first. But yeah. Can't have too many belts and discs.

That's the one. I swear at times I had to change the paper every few feet.
Once all that went it wasn't too bad of a process to be honest. Despite dust bags the whole room was a cloud mind you.

Im hiring another one soon, to do the dining room and hallway. Thankfully it's more of a tidy up, whereas the living room was thick black stain under the ugly carpet.
Girlfriend has already said she would like to have a go with the sander.
