  • Jenrick's gone but he had a great run. He treated the post like a well practiced contestant on supermarket sweep.

    Hah!

  • All that effort fronting the bullshit on breakfast news for months and this is how he's repaid LOL

  • Patel at the Home Office and Raab at Justice - hell of a pincer movement.

  • Raab is apparently refusing it. Who's got a childish wishlist now?

  • He has been named it now and Deputy Prime Minister, unreal

  • RaaaaaAAAAAAAAB!

  • Just came here to add:-

  • Raab is apparently refusing it. Who's got a childish wishlist now?

I would think that the logic behind Raab to justice is so that he can dismantle the HRA and remove the UK from the ECHR. This is going to be problematic for the GFA, but that's not stopped them before of course.

  • Raab knows where more bodies are than Williamson and Jenrick.

  • Patel to keep position of Home Secretary. Grim.

  • Let’s face it she’s doing a great job 😂

  • Pork! Cheese! Foreign Secretary!

  • Holy Fuck.

We are so going to get into a war by mistake.

  • We are so going to get into a war by mistake.

And with no checks and balances either because Dominic Raab is all the things...

  • It's the end of any judicial oversight/challenge to the government, I would think.

  • Exactly

    (IANAL, etc, etc...)

But it's all fine because we have no written constitution, not that this mob would follow it anyway.

  • Also looks like Johnson has stitched Gove up in an hilarious fashion.

It's actually very neat - got to take my hat off to him on this one.

  • Liz Truss. Fuck, that's next level embarrassing for this country. That used to be one of the great offices of state.

  • I think it shows that Foreign Secretary is not the important, or at least powerful, job it used to been and hasn't been for a while. And that Culture Secretary is now the culture-war job.

  • You could probably do it from a beach somewhere...

  • There is a greater problem here.
As long as he keeps his constituency party happy, the failure that is Gavin Williamson could remain a Tory backbench MP for a further 30 or 40 years.
There really does need to be a mechanism where proven failures are ushered out of Parliament.

  • Maybe Boris is trying to ensure there is a more embarrassingly awful foreign secretary than he was...

  • Truss is very popular with the base as she has been actually doing stuff (copying and pasting old agreements it is true, but still something that needed doing) that can be claimed as a "benefit of Brexit".

Putting her somewhere that she'll get a more difficult brief can't hurt Johnson - either she does well, which reflects well on him, or she bombs, neatly removing a leadership rival in '24.

  • There really does need to be a mechanism where proven failures are ushered out of Parliament.

I think that's what elections were invented for.
