@gillies what made you spend the extra on the Packster over Urban Arrow?

So I'm now the very happy owner of an Urban Arrow Family, same back end and motor as a Cargo L or XL, but a smaller front end with no front shock. Nearly bought a second hand XL but was always slightly unsure about the weight and turning circle, so this machine is a great compromise.

Thank you @MCamb and peeps on this thread for the advice on this purchase. Next step is to switch out the bars for something flat for a position I'm more used to. The sweep on these makes it almost impossible to pedal out of the saddle.

Also need to sort out the HORRENDOUSLY squeally brakes, a perennial problem with discs. They function fine but jesus what a noise.

The box designed for carrying small people might actually fit my toolbox with the seats removed so could leave it on there.

pretty much all my disc brake bikes bar road bike make noise, who cares. Cars are noisier and cuntier.

That cube cargo (esp in stock) is a DEAL. The ETA on newer version (cant tell the diff whats new) is March 2022.

Sadly I can;t erase the trapped nerve in my back, which makes riding seated all the time difficult. Helping heal the sciatica with relaxed position and e-assist was a big reason for the purchase.

FINE! I had to do the opposite tbf; Bullitt ride position is quite low, had to change front brake hose, wasnt fun.

oh you want to go HIGHER? That makes sense. I thought you said you want to go lower.

Cube had terrible warranty practices BITD (on top of questionable quality), I'd definitely enquire about their current practices in that respect before I drop serious money on one...

Yeah stem is wierd, does the job of the top cap. This machine will not be ridden that hard so hopefully wont develop a creak.

Their road bikes had basic OEM-only Easton wheels which you couldn't get new freehubs or replacement for when they failed. They had to be shipped to the Netherlands (IIRC) to be fixed then shipped back to the UK and that took forever as you can imagine.

This was years ago, there's been some positive feedback on here so maybe it's better now.

Dont buy a bullitt or omnium.

Do you mean for this application, carrying two children, or in general? They seem pretty popular, here.

Yeah for 2 kid carrying. Not ideal on either.

I’d advise for UA too. Think they’re one of the best value options as well as being really solid.

Benno Boost E is working well for us! 24" x 2.6" tyres are super comfy and mean the bike is about the same length as my MTB

I think the only spec change I would choose to make would be a set of hubs with sealed bearings... the deores are not shit by any means though.

We just fitted a longer / higher stem too

I understand why you're saying what your saying but you're just wrong because of set up. I am writing this mostly out of disdain for the new fancy kid-only "cargo bikes" these days.

With the right set up it carries two kids comfortably, easily, conveniently and without gimmick and plastic. I've been riding my bullit with two kids for 4 years now since the first one was born and straight through the second child also. Never missed a month. One kid and a child seat for the other infant? Check. Two giant toddlers? check. Two giant toddlers, a bag for each of their toys, my supplies for our lunch and quick stop groceries on the way home? check.

my cargo box is 24 inches wide on the inside, has a seat with seat belts, and can take actual 200 bricks thrown at it and keep laughing. I even built a windshield for it for winter and cold rain.

release the truck strap and the sides fall off to create a flat bed.

the thing is utilitarian, tough, shrug off bags of cement, and turn around to take kids to the beach piece of kit. wouldn't trade it for the plastic crap that is urban arrow arrow or whatever else it marketed these days.
