I had to redo the tape several times on my Sequoia Hayfields before they stopped leaking air through the spokes. But I was fitting 35mm tyres (Marathon Supremes) at higher pressures, so you might have an easier time of it.
On the other hand I've never had any trouble setting up non-tubeless-specific tyres, even wire bead ones, on tubeless-ready rims.
I've got some 45mm tanwall WTB Riddlers on the grrls bike that are an old version and have no mention of tubelessness. Is there any reason (other than me producing more TLR rants) not to attempt to tubelessify them on her Sequoia Hayfield wheels?
