@pullingteth If you can get it to UK and MOT, how much would you want for it?

Family sized (C Max comparable) 2nd hand hybrid. What are the sensible options? Toyota Corolla was suggested previously but not sure if I'm feeling it.

As a thought scenario, what estate has the widest, most useable boot relative to its length?

Obviously V70s, Mondeos and E classes have huge useable boots, but also stretch the limits of my driveway. Something like an Octavia has (imo) quite a narrow, though deep, boot. Focus estate looks good but they're dog slow, apart from the ST.

A friend's mid-10's Vauxhall Vectra had a bloody cavernous boot. It was a saloon so I'd imagine the estate to be even bigger.

For those who are wondering whether my knackered Fiat Punto made it through its MOT, it did. Cheers for those who pointed out that a rear wiper wasn't required, meant I wasn't sweating on delivery before the MOT.

I did have to jumpstart it beforehand which was a bit of a concern. I drove it up and down the A10 to make sure it had enough charge to get through it.

Dear car folk, my Jeep Cherokee will be up for sale soon. I was going to sell it a while back, but they delayed the extension of the ULEZ to the south circular. It is a diesel, bought in good faith as recommended by Gordon Brown, but now the scourge of Londoners.

If there is anyone outside of London interested in a low mileage 2.8 CRD, then I would happily sell this for around 70% of the We Buy Any Car valuation, on the grounds that they will find reasons to push the price down, then mark it up to sell - so why not pass that saving on to a fellow member of the forum and save myself the hassle? I will also throw in Thule roof bars and a Halfords roof box.

If there is interest, I will put together the details and be honest about the good and bad stuff (mostly good). It's a 2006 model, mileage is early 60K and it passed its latest MOT a month ago with no advisories. I just need it to deliver my son and belongings to university in a fortnight, then I'm happy to part with it. I'm going to go car-free for a while.

Valuation is £1570, so £1,100 would seem a fair price.

I don't envy you. At least yours are in the same direction - I've got Bristol and back for my daughter and then Leeds for son #1. No doubt son #2 will choose somewhere equally inconvenient.

That's pretty much as bad. TBH Durham is only a visit to say hello as we are nearby - he comes and goes on the train mostly.
Overnight stay in a cheap Newcastle hotel so we don't have to do 11 hours of driving in the day.

We need to replace the front tyres on our car. Have never owned a car long enough to need to replace tyres before (not a boast, I'm a newish driver and car owner).

I'm in Lewisham. Where is good for tyres? Any pitfalls I should look out for?

I’ve seen these too , one attempted an overtake as I was coming the other way ….. it backed off as I think it reached max speed .

We recently had our front tyres replaced at the Kwik Fit on the OKR near Peckham Park Road. Can recommend them. They were fine and you can book everything online if you need it.

KwikFit also did a mobile installation of the tyres on my Beetle. A useful option if you CBA to sit around at tyre shop.

I like Black Circles - asked my local (good) independent if I should order through them or Black Circles and they said it made no difference to them.

2nd for Kwik Fit if you just want relatively cheap and hassle free. Changed two on the Panda. Booked online, rocked up at the allotted time, handed over the keys and came back when they said to. The only annoyance can be stock of certain brands at different branches, but I wasn't fussed what I got in the end so just took what they had. People with fancier motors may (will vehemently) disagree.

If I need any for the C Max in future, I am probably going to just google for a local mobile person, as I'm further from Kwik Fit now (to make it a bollocks for the time without the car) and am especially lazy.
