I think this is the right thread to ask, not sure I'll get anything but worth a shot, anyone has any experience moving house with a big ass cactus? It's around 2m high and about 50cm wide, we grew it from a small one and are keen to get it there in one piece so any advice on how to protect for move is welcome!

I've done this a couple of times, though not with one as tall as 2m! I've usually lightly wrapped the cactus body in bubble wrap, then supported with bamboo canes around it, taped to the pot and tied around at the top, then wrapped the whole thing in cardboard.
Keeping them upright has always been the main issue though, given the root ball's so small!

That's a good idea on making a custom box with bamboo and cardboard, will try and do that! Thank you

You could always order a large plant to the new house and reuse the box and protection it will come with

This ones been outside for a few weeks in the wind and rain, so the soil is damp. But very sandy and there’s also gravel in the bottom of the pot

have just noticed these spots appearing on the underside of one of the leaves on my monstera. i gave it a big drink of water the other day as i'd been away for a week or so and it hadn't been watered. is this the dreaded root rot?

My Christmas cactus is dying. It's really limp and lifeless despite looking fine and having new growth recently.
Can it be saved?

House of Kojo is very good. If you intend to spend more than £50 1st order, let me know so I can send you a code and we both get a £10 voucher.
Patch Plant is one that everyone knows? They are pretty good esp if you live in London, they deliver the plants to you with no packaging, but they don’t have a particularly wide range of choices. They have sent me plants that were a bit sorry for themselves and they offered either a discount or replacement, no questions asked.
Pointless Plant is reputable, but I personally find them quite a bit more expensive than their competitors.
I have personally shopped with all 3 but I like Kojo the most because of theIr range and price.

Amazing, thank you. Have a new house to plant up, so reckon I can easily break the £50 barrier - if you can ping me that code that would be great!

Oooh, good to know. Hopefully moving house early next year and will have more space for plants, love the look of some of the house of kojo offerings.

Will send code in a bit when on computer, I don’t like doing much on my phone these days.
Kojo has Kojo Friday every Friday where they offer half price, buy 1 get 1 free, 30% of all of a type of plants etc. I normally wait till first to order, but you’d have to do it at 8am because Kojo Friday is usually very popular! Especially if it’s of a popular plant!
Hummmm.... they should pay me for promoting them! 🤣🤣🤣

Today I bought 2 Aloe Vera plants on a whim when today (one big, one small) whilst I was in the range...
I was wondering what the best method for keeping them is? I've had a look online and there is fairly mixed methods and I'm fairly clueless when it comes to plants! -

Code sent. :-)

Let them be... I left mine by the kitchen window which isn't that bright so partly shaded, only water when soil is dry, no misting. If you bought yours from a supermarket or anywhere that isn't a proper gardening place, check the roots to make sure they are not bounded in a mesh bag.
It's a quick and easy way for growers to grow plants inside the supposedly biodegradable bags, then pot the baby plants with the bags into bigger pots etc, but the reality is these bags don't always disappear. Mine was growing like weed until the roots were so so restricted from one of those bags that it died.
Give them a couple of weeks to settle the dig them out to check. Or you might be able to see the bag if you dig out the top inch or 2 of soil. I hope you don't have a bag, they are nasty things.

A word of advice for any possible Kojo orders, the peanuts they use in their packaging are (hot) water dissolvable, quite fun to see them disappear, esp if you have kids. I think they are made of corns? Not sure.

I know nothing about when to water stuff so I use the app Planta which tells me when to do things. It’s well worth checking out but as ExTra says, aloe are easy to deal with.
@Extra - if the codes last indefinitely can you send me one, otherwise I’ll remember to get in touch once we move - cheers
Thanks for the help everyone! Seems like it is indeed a poinsettia. Turns out the poor thing was dried out; under the decorative moss stuff on top, it was just sitting in a ball of planting foam and less than a handful of soil. All the roots were shriveled and dried. Repotted it with some proper soil and gave it water. Hopefully I can revive it... and probably should have inspected it right after bringing it home.
