I suspect that this conversation is a good example of how nebulous our collective understanding is of sex work and, perhaps more importantly, the impact that it can have on those that engage in it.
There’s loads of research on the psychological effects of working as a first responder, or as a psychologist, or doing other roles where you engage with others in the most intimate of ways. Since sex work is illegal, it’s more difficult to conduct research.
