  • Here’s my effort today. I’m sure Terje Haakonsen is shitting himself right now thinking about my big air...

  • Yes! Severely scenic. Even a couple of confused reindeer came shuffling along.

  • For clarity, we’ve travelled by car without stopping to a rented cabin, brought all our food and drink along in the car, and so on. So not a totally insane move, pandemic wise.

Edit: also we’re not in the uk obvs so not breaking any rules á la mr Cummings

  • Starting to see some 22/23 gear. Future is looking good. So far nothing that should make anyone wait from a tech perspective to make a purchase though.

  • Has anyone eve thought about this seasons releases. I wouldn't if I wasn't in the industry tbh.

  • I have a Palmer Flash board I love. Think I might want a new board at some point, any recommendations?

  • Depending if that’s the rocker version or an older one? Almost no bad boards left in the market quality wise just matter of what type of ride you want. If you can’t test beforehand a capita DOA or a Ride Warpig are both faultless but very different handling wise.

  • If you ride switch a bunch the leave the Ride Warpig……….

  • I bought a Salomon Assassin the season before lockdown (first brand new board for 6 years) & rode it for a few days in Chamonix. Once I dialled my bindings properly it rode incredibly pretty much over the whole mountain, super fun but precise without being bitey. Exception being in the deep stuff, I found the nose hard to keep up; kinda wish I had splashed a bit more dollar and got the Pro model for the setback option.

Pretty gutted I haven't had another chance to ride it.

  • I rate the Assassin for sure. Never rode one in the deep though so I guess you put it as far back as you could. Personally I rarely change the stance/positioning of my bindings and just deal with the leg burn. Mind you I regret not putting my bindings back every single pow day.....
Since I'm categorised as old now days I mainly ride Vimana Astro, Lib tech Orca, Ride Warpig, Salomon Dancehaul and that type of thing so keeping the nose up isn't an issue. Saying that the pandemic thing might have me re-learning how to turn so whatever! I miss snowboarding and can't wait for the coming season.

  • Picture of the last time I went for a run and that was in 2020!! Never been away from riding that long a time since I started.

  • Bumping the boarding thread because I just extended my week in March to two weeks snowdance

  • Ah snowboarding, I remember that.

Did 6 seasons in a row in various parts of the world and then got drunk and walked out in front of a taxi in Taipei n broke my knees. Was never the same.

This screen grab is from one of, if not the, best days of my life. Thank christ for bicycles!

  • That looks really excellent. There are few things more fun than riding a snowboard in deep fluffy powder.

  • Absolutely. Thats why I had to give it up really, couldn't ride off piste like I wanted to with the knees. Can still smash around on piste but can't do that for 5 months solid.

  • Switzerland a few days ago was fun, I'm glad I still remebered how to slide sideways!

@brokenbetty looking forward to seeing you in March :-)

  • Nearly did exactly the same. A miscommunication on which bar we were going to next meant me and my friend ended up with 8 shots of Sambuca to tackle on our own. Stumbled out of that bar and straight in to the path of a car, I guess probably looking for cars coming from the right.

Luckily the driver was quick and I just got a tap to the shin and an incredible hangover for my efforts.

Edit: it was on a snowboard trip btw, so vaguely on theme.

  • I'd just finished my season in Japan and was cycling in Okinawa to recover when a good friend from school invited me to Taipei for his birthday. Needless to say it didn't end well after blacking out on day/night 3.

3 broken ribs, one punctured lung, 1 snapped knee cap, a few broken ligaments, large scars on arms and head, heeefty concussion and whip lash. Hospital for a week, hotel for 2 weeks until I was allowed to fly home.

Having said that, I basically got away with it.

  • Holy shit.

Ok, no where near the same for me then.

  • Off to Morzine today for a week. Hasn't got off to the best start with all BA flights being cancelled but managed to get onto a different flight later in the day so fingers crossed will still get there today.

  • After buying my first snowboard. Do you guys think is would be suitable for a rider 5ft8 at 80kg

    Bataleon evil twin 154cm

Will be using it for mostly blue and red run slopes

  • Yeah it'll be sweet. Don't think too much about it. It's a medium flex, twin, camber board, all good things to be starting out on but it's not a full on super beginner board either so lots of life in it and good to progress on. Enjoy.
