I'd like to go to BPW and then somewhere else fun like (for example) Afan, probably leaving Friday night and heading back Sunday afternoon. I'll pick a weekend in early September and stick a thread up if there's any interest?

Might be keen, have got a few mates on the south coast who have been talking about getting up there at some point too

If you’re still after gaining more confidence in the air?
Stick your pump track bike on the rack and spend a morning/afternoon here:

Just down the road from BPW -

Thanks for the recommendation, I can stick that bike on the roof/in the boot.
I think I'll organise a trip to BPW and ride up for mid September-ish, and we can (if there's interest) book an uplift session for October?
I understand if there's very little uptake for the September one - and I'll also understand if others want to hire e-bikes, I'll toil up on my trail bike and you can wave hello as you shoot past.

I would join you in Sept but I’m away with my gf on a 10 day break in Dorset
I’ll keep an eye on the Oct dates

Also interested in September push up

There are also a load of trails between Mountain Ash & Treharris which is just down the road from BPW and relatively easy to park.
I rode Dirty Slag https://strava.app.link/xThoBycfNib recently and was absolutely terrified. That probably says more about my DH skills than the difficulty level though, as YouTube videos make it look very pedestrian. It is fairly overgrown though so there are parts you’re riding blind. There’s also a Mountain Ash DH trail you could add in to a loop fairly easily

In slightly different news I just ordered a pair of the Adidas Terrex GTX boots which promise to be waterproof flat-pedal shoes.
I wear an older pair underneath Endura waterproof overshoes, so this could be either fantastic or very disappointing.

Small, for chuckability

New bike arrived this week. It’s great but getting heel rub…
Are there any clipless shoes which allow the cleats to go further back than average shoes? I have giro and shimano offroad clipless shoes with cleats pretty slammed as far back as they can go.

clipless shoes
proper MTB-ers ride flats (I dont)

I would also recommend flat pedals for anything other than single track cross country. It will help you push yourself a bit harder and learn some skills easier with the option to bail. Go clipless once you have that nailed.
Mrs Dext has upgraded my winter mountain bike. All in the name of comfort apparently… 😩
Aspens are the ultimate winter mud tyre. Nothing sticks to them. Just requires finesse riding! Ha.
