• 100k is barely worn in. Just budget for suspension/belts etc. Might be worth going for something with more miles but belts done. Check service intervals and then look for cars and their history.

  • Is the belt replacement interval on those 100k? So best looking just over the 100k mark & make sure the big service items are done?

  • Watch out for autos which have been used for towing, and/or haven't had the gearbox oil changed.

My s60 gearbox oil was black at 70k miles, and started to chew through suspension bits (bushes etc) at 120k miles.

Also look for one with the SE spec stereo (HU850). At the time, apart from the Levinson system in the top spec Lexus, this was about as good as it got for standard ICE.

  • 108k or 6 years AFAIK so you should be good for 2 or more.

Ran mine 92K to 137k before trading it in. Cost me tyres between those and a jubilee clip (blew off intercooler hose on trip home from collection, doh.) D5 or nothing. If you're looking 2010 onwards there's a very healthy 200+bhp and v.torque, hence front tyres are 10-15k max if heavy footed.

Get a VIDA dice for £75 off eBay and enjoy Volvo main dealer diagnostics at home. Very easy to work on - and VIDA supplies step by step workshop manual and electrical diagrams. Parts on second hand market are well priced. Ripped my drivers seat base... bought a new base attached to a whole electric seat (lol) for £30. Bargain.

Business editions are good if you want a manual too...
