Next to that De kakkers is the nickname for KV Mechelen, a team from the province Lukaku is from but which he hasn't got any ties to.

So from my Belgian perspective it doesn't really work.

It looks like he spoke French at home but grew up in a Flemish-speaking part of Belgium. And also speaks Lingala, English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and German.
