I was too scared to ask

Haven’t tried that. But it had fold up tabs to stop it rotating, being reverse threaded as well seems a little much for something that’s only there to retain something. Doesn’t make sense for it to be reverse thread.

3 speed SA hub has a barrell adjuster that the cable goes through at the hub. The cable needs a crimp to stop it pulling through. Where can I get the crimp?

No, little bit of metal to crimp onto the cable. Like a cable end but lower profile

Got a pic?

Like the crimped ends on this

Ah yeah I see what you mean.
Something like this?

Can’t tell if that’s the crimp pre installed on a cable or what. Not sure how it would be held at the shifter end?

You can file down a road bike gear cable end if you’re very bored.

As is modern commerce, I have bought 250 barrel crimps of various sizes.

If anyone ever needs any I'll post you some.

So I just sheared off an alloy Nitto canti mount bolt inside the brake stud on my fork. The stub of the bolt is maybe 6-8mm deep inside the stud so cutting a slot isn't an option.
I have a Dremel, a regular drill and a bunch of standard tools to hand, but obviously willing to shell out on something to fix this.
Any suggestions on the smartest way to get it out without screwing up the threads of the stud?

Try drilling a hole in the bolt remains and use an easy-out bolt extractor?

Well that's a whole thing I didn't know existed... got some on order from Toolstation so will give this a crack tomorrow night. Cheers!

Im using shimano xt m772 on my gravel bike with 6700 ultegra shifters, works like a charm. Officially only takes 34t biggest cog, but according to the internetz it works with 36t without any issues.

Could anyone suggest what needs to go on that rear brake cable bridge? I imagine some sort of a barrel adjuster? Or a stepped ferrule? The hole does not have any thread

Some sort of stepped ferrule, or a barrel adjuster.

Thanks :) But which? It's pretty narrow. Cable housing does not fit in there. Would this fit? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265242620520?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338364430&customid=265242620520_888&toolid=11000

No, those are the same width as a cable housing I believe
-
• #1197
Can you measure the hole?
-

I'd guess summat like this:

The adjusters were almost unique to Raleigh / Carlton, very slim! The barrel adjusters from old friction downtube gear levers can be substituted as can some barrel adjusters from old rear mechs. The hole in the braze on is not threaded just small
Dave Marsh might have some in his shop, also the sort of stuff Mercian might have in an old drawer somewhere.

Not very precisely, but it's just under 5mm. Maybe 4.5
Reluctant to even suggest this, but maybe it's left-hand threaded? Sorry if it's obvious and you've tried already.
