  • I was shocked by all the providers advertising a £20 test on the government website only to discover those tests were sold out and only the £55+ were available. Shocked I tell you.

  • We're going with Randox at £43 each (£5 off with BA). Fuck knows if it'll work out.

Our local pharmacy wants £130 per PCR test!

  • same, I am looking at Randox for my parents visit, do I have buy before they fly?

  • You’d think that someone like BA would bundle them in with the ticket and have them as a pickup item from the business class arrivals lounges apres shower and sausage sarnie but no.

  • Went to a zoo in France, they had a dedicated member of staff checking vaccine status, just wanted to see the dates on the vaccine PDF for the both of us.

  • Other half had a couple of positive lat flow tests last night, we went for PCR tests at lunchtime to confirm. She feels proper awful and couldn't work today; sore throat, cough, aches all over, running a temp and getting shivers, woke up drenched in middle of the night... really hitting her quite hard.

Absolutely no symptoms for me so far, I didn't bother with the lat flow tests so will just wait for PCR test result to come through.

Both double jabbed, she had AZ pretty early on and I had my 2nd Pfizer beginning of July.

  • Just having a chat with my (ex)wife, she's in Frankfurt airport with her sister (who's been having immunotherapy for a brain tumour in Germany), they weren't allowed to get on their return flight because their covid test results (both negative) were in German, apparently French, Spanish, Italian ok, but not German. What the fuck is going through our government's heads?

  • That's bizarre. No explanation given, I presume?

  • Only that UK customs won't accept test results in German, so they (along with 6 others from their flight) went and paid (again) for new tests, and got the results in English.
They're booked on a 10am flight tomorrow, so, fingers crossed, they should be home tomorrow afternoon.
    Bizarre it most definitely is.

  • hahahah BA charge for picking a seat in Business Class... there's no way they'd do a bundle

  • Sorry to hear this.

keep the sugary fluid intake up and hope it eases up soon.

I was using lemsip to stay on top of the temp.

    C

  • I booked tests with this bunch. Kits arrived on time. £40.

    https://nwp-online.co.uk/

    Edit.. Now £65! Price gouging

  • Is their rapid antigen test just a lateral flow test. £400 for a box!

I wonder when the government will stop paying for testing in general?

  • Cheers. Soleros seem to be taking the edge off, we've got a good supply of Lemsip and a full fridge.

Bit of a shit waiting game now until it hits me :S

  • Yeah. Practically impossible in my tiny house to isolate but if you can sleep in another room it might help with loading.

My wife did eventually catch it off me but it did not hit her chest, which I think is due to her biology / blood group.

  • GF used Dante Labs £84 for two tests.

  • "how do you do, fellow kids!"

  • I used randox for pcr before flying to Germany and for pcr for day 2 after return. Worked well but check if you have a dx Dropbox near your postcode. I ordered the tests to my friends house one week before my flight back to Germany. They arrived in a day or two.

  • Yes they need the booking number on your order E-Mail to use on their passenger location form

  • Also interesting that we didn’t need a pcr test for our return flight to the uk, just an antigen Test which you can get for free in Germany (with English certificate). I paid 20€ for mine at Düsseldorf airport because they give you a certificate with your passport number and I wanted to make sure we wouldn’t be turned away travelling with a 9 months old..

  • Lucky enough to be able to sleep in separate rooms (forgotten how amazing it is to just sprawl out!) and leaving all windows open so we get plenty of fresh air through the flat.

PCR test results confirmed she's got it but mine came back negative, thankfully she appears to be over the worst of it and it's now, in her words, like a bad cold.

  • You joke, but if you've got any ideas on how to drive uptake in the 20 -39 population across different ethnicities, I'm all ears.

  • Free gary's.

  • Tested positive on lateral flow and PCR yesterday after 5 days of isolation and no symptoms to date. Turbo session on Thursday evening where my HR averaged 181 for an hour is probably the only indication that somethings not quite right but thought that might be because of a couple of weeks off the bike

Away for a stag do last weekend and 5/8 have now tested positive, all are either single or double jabbed. Because I have no symptoms I’ll be missing my brothers wedding next weekend, those that had symptoms a couple of days earlier will just scrape in, including the groom

Slightly confusing advice for my other half. T&T told me to tell her to self isolate & her app updated to say this as well. She’s just received a notification through the app telling her she doesn’t need to isolate as she’s double jabbed. Negative PCR yesterday and continuing negative LFT’s while I’m locked in the spare room. I thought rules changed on Monday and even then I’m a bit confused as to whether they change for someone that lives with somebody that’s tested positive?

  • My interpretation is that from Monday she will be able to stop isolation if she is double vaccinated (at least 14 days before the close contact) and has no symptoms and has a negative pcr test. If you are in Scotland then the rules changed a while ago.

And I'm sorry you are missing your brothers wedding, that's fucking shit
